I have carpal tunnel syndrome! Holy crap does it hurt to type this... but it doesn't matter much cause I have to type a five page paper for english tomorrow, so I guess I'll just have to suck it up.

I thought CTS just made your hand weak and your last 2 fingers go numb.. I didn't know it actually hurt?

Have you actually been diagnosed, or do you simply feel pain and then conclude that you have CTS?

My aunt has it. She says it wakes her up in the middle of the night and she gets a throbbing pain in her arms and it keeps her up all night long because the pain in unbearable.. Are you sure you have CTS? I can't imagine getting it at teh age of 16 unless you were a secretary or something

My wife was just diagnosed with it (she's 26). She would wake up a night with her hands numb, and then they would start to throb. Right now she's getting cortizone shots in both wrists which has taken care of the pain for now, but if it comes back she'll probably need surgery.

You should get to a doctor for the CTS. Also, invest in a copy of Dragon Naturally Speaking and a good headset. If your hands and wrists are this messed up from typing and you are only 16, you will certainly need a good speach to text program in the futue.

I found that my hands hurt less after extended hours of typing when I used my natural keyboard.

surgery will really help it a lot. it's outpatient surgery, and you can even get it filmed. My dad had it done, and I've seen the VHS tape of the procedure

my mom's a programmer and she got CTS. now she has trouble opening jars and withstanding heavy vibrations and stuff. her work paid for her surgery though and they get her all kinds of ergonomic stuff to work with. now i'm really paranoid about getting it, i pretty much refuse to work on a computer for more than 10 minutes without a wristrest for the keyboard and mouse.

I don't think you have CTS.... sounds like your hand is just cramping up from using the keyboard for too long.

My mother is a nurse and thinks that I have it.

Whatever, my wrist hurts and I get a strange tingling feeling all up my right arm.

I dunno anything else that would cause this, mebbe poor circulation (my hands get numb after working on the comp for a while), so mebbe thats it instead?

I guess see a doctor then. There might be something to help it.

When my dad was my age he only weighed 80 lbs. He had to gain 10lbs to be allowed into IIT. I am perfectly healthy, like I said, it's genetic.
