Check the # on your motor (on the oilpan) to see if you have the early smaller IMS bearing. If so, you should have it replaced with one of the aftermarket versions.

Early 2005 version had the 996 IMS assembly that is fail-prone.

From the pics, your car doesn't have the real leather package, which is actually better when it comes to durability and cleaning (and kids).

It is an early car since it was originally purchased in 04. the car is immaculate and was well taken care of by the original owner so I'm hoping to find out that the bearing was already done.

You should be able to get the service records from the dealer he took it to. The dealer in Minneapolis that my car was serviced at gave me the whole thing, $22K worth of maintenance

Congrats Lavaheadache!

It is very pretty.

I'm looking at a similar purchase, waiting on the 997 .2's to come down a little in price, but I'm jealous!

Trip to the dent wizard got rid of the 2 small door dings she had. It was the easiest $100 I've ever spent. Silly that I feel that way but they made looking at the rest of the body impossible. I found myself trying to see them whenever I saw the car.

Now I gotta pick up some nice Lloyds mats.

What say the crew for embroidery? The interior is black.

should they say PORSCHE, 997, 911, Carrera.... ? what?

Yeah, sometimes dents will do that.

BTW....went out Monday and bought a Silverado. Used, but not bad shape.

Loving your car, tho.

I would have loved a 997.2 but if i did that i would have had to wait another year or 2. I really cant wait till the 991's become attainable for me..... The new body is soooooo nice. Looks nice and wide.

I prefer the 997.2s to the 991. But I'd get a GT3. Interior layout is less like a space ship and I prefer the manual. The 991s just seem so big and mass produced too. =|

There are a few 991 7-sps out there but most are PDK. I'll buy a PDK as soon as I lose one leg.

Your car looks nice! Let me know if you need some spacers or tune

I don't blame you at all for not wanting to wait. I have the same feelings about the cost of the 991's, and I'm not sold on the electric steering (at lease thats what I tell myself).

Congratulations again. That is a pretty pretty car.

little update

Recently had to replace my rear sunroof drain lines. Found a little puddle under my daughters car seat when switching the seat over to my truck.

Was able to replace the old ones with nice water line from the local Home Depot. Got to learn the car a little better and have some fun too.

Car is starting to look real good too. Got my custom stitched mats in. Got Some old wheel weight tape off. Can't believe people are that lazy. I also found time to clean the fender wells real well with soap and water.

Can you find a picture online of a rear facing seat for this car? I've seen a rear facing seat in the front seat of a 997, but I'm not sure this is legal everywhere. (Maybe it is if you disable the airbag??)

It's amazing this fits -- if I travel with a baby seat I have to rent a full size car just so I can sit in front of it. I do require quite a lot of leg room, though.

If you're just talking about a booster seat then it's a totally different issue.

----edit----
I know some car companies that have optional integrated booster seats (Volvo). Porche should offer a rear seat option that was designed specifically for children since the back seat is really child sized anyway.

Curious why you passed on the red one @ Mattie? It's now @ a different dealer. Going to look at it on Saturday.
