I would agree, and given Trump's behavior with the Lincoln MKC production line and Carrier, if he was president in 2009 he probably would have done the bailout as well.

Maybe. But if GM or Chrysler was even the slightest bit critical of Trump like Boeing just was, he might attack them instead and refuse to support them.

That's the president people elected, a fickle one, who bases his reactions on those who have possibly slighted him. Would Trump blow off a half a million jobs due to a personal slight? Based upon all the evidence so far, yes.

How ironic is all of this? GM, who received a subsidized loan from the taxpayers expands their line in "CHINA" and exports back to the US. Fiat/Chrysler continues to import small cars from Europe. Both were forced to realign their NA production to the reduced customer base and imported manufacturers continue to divvy up the pie.

What I find to be even more disconcerting is the open fact that Trump imported many different goods because it benefited him personally to do so yet spouts that he cares about American jobs. Do as I say and not as I do indeed yet those very same poor saps who were affected by his previous decisions somehow have come to support him expecting for some miraculous recovery in their particular market sector that can help them hang onto the days of yore. Seems to me that some folks need to go to a liberal college and enroll in economics and business classes so they can expand their thinking and get a firm grasp on the reality that surrounds them.

I guess I used the bailout term in a more vague sense, for the aid that the government provided during the process of saving the auto industry.

I just spent 18,000 on a Lennox. I read about the Carrier shit. Probably no better at not outsourcing but I did it through Costco because their employees get holidays off and a decent wage.

Lennox moved to Mexico some time ago.

Carrier was doing this to stay cost competitive to the industry when you have imports from all over and many people do not look for, can evaluate or want to pay for higher quality.

I gotta say, looked at Carrier brands when I had to have my unit replaced.

Carrier was neither best quality or lowest price. Not bad, but not compelling.

NOW? The drama has only damaged my opinion of them and would absolutely shy away. The brand damage that had been done must be extraordinarily expensive.
