The 1992 through 2000 Lexus Sc 300/400. I fell in love with the design 18 years ago but could not afford the $50,000 price tag so I waited ... and I waited ... and I waited until I bought a 15 year-old model for almost 90% off retail. The kicker is ... it had only 45,000 miles on it.

Celica was sexy as hell but too bad they had to put the supercar like styling on a corolla with a bit of "sports tuning."

If only the last MR2 wasn't the MRS and used the celica body, that would've been a SERIOUSLY droolworthy car.

I've never understood why people like them, I always think they look cheap and ugly.

+1...i never liked the 7th generation Celica.

the 6th Generation (AT200, ST202, and ST205 chassis) Celicas were the best looking IMO and had the cleanest, sleekest lines. and while i wouldn't flat out say its timeless, i still think its got quite a while before it ever goes "out of style."

mind you, i'm not crazy about the tall spoiler, but we're looking at the GT-4 sport model (that was never available to us stateside), and not the standard base model Celica here...

astroidea - while i'm not a big fan of the 7th gen Celica, i absolutely LOVE the TS020 Toyota GT One Race Car in the background of your picture (and i equally love the Road Car variant as well). unfortunately they don't fit this thread or i'd post more pictures of them.

Emphasis on cheap. I didn't think it was that ugly, the thing just looks chincy.

Yeah but buying cheap cars that look cheap isn't a good thing, it's like saying "Oh you spent $40 on a steak last night?, well I went to McDonalds and spent $4 on a burger" you pay less you get less

Funny thing is its only true with the M3. A plain 3 series just doesn't look appealing even though its the same sheet metal.
Thing is, it isn't. The E46 M3 should technically be called an E47, it's so different. Only the roof panel, door skin and bootlid are shared with the regular car, then you have the hybrid rear subframe (with bracing from Cabrio version), carbon composite bumper hangers, unique suspension arms/parts front and rear, etc, not to mention the unique drivetrain.

HAL9000 is right... A lot of people are posting cars that look extremely dated. The F40 and the Countach are perfect examples.

Then again, the title says "never go out of style" not timeless. If you drive a Countach down the street it will turn every head.

well said...i tried to make the distinction between "timeless" and "not out of style" in my post about the 6th gen Celica. but given the limitations on content, this thread is bound to stray from its topic from time to time...

I'm a real Scooby fan, and that WR 300 was a fantastic example of the 'blob-eye', but it's not a timeless classic, IMHO.

Yeah I supposed a better Scooby example would be the Impreza B22. My definition for a car that does not go out of style is that at least 15-20 years after the car was introduced it still gets attention and admiration when seen on the street. This is how I feel when I see a well-maintained RX-7, Supra, and NSX, and I think 10 yrs later when I see a 04 STi it'll invoke the same emotion, and the exaggerated wing and over-sized hood-scoop will be remembered.

And of course it goes without saying that the exotic cars are always timeless but it is too obvious and too easy of a choice.

Again, I think the 22B is amazing, and it's made even more amazing in that only 100 or so, or maybe even less, were brought into the UK legitimately, but I had a Scooby in that GC shape, and a looker it was not. Even when you take into account the the 22B was a 2 door coupé and had wild wide arches, it's still not going to win any design awards!

I agree that the 90s Impreza including the 22B won't win any design awards, but what keeps the 22B from going out of style is its unique wide body look that so closely resemble the WRC race car that dominated the 90s. At least to me, a production car with wide body and closely resemble the actual race car does not go out of style.

My first impression of the scooby when I first laid eyes upon it was that why are people raving about this car that looks like a riced out civic. Then over the years, I've came across things like Clarkson's review of the car where he's comparing the computerized AWD to a playstation game and watching WRC and playing rally sims such as RBR.
Now the scooby is a SEXY BEAST to me.

98' BMW 7 series, still looks classy to me

Especially with the Style 37 M parallels on them. Those cars are absolutely classy.

has to be the E30 M3, that car was way ahead of its time. Shit, if I could even find one decently priced and in fair condition.

They are pretty awesome cars

I absolutely love the 850csi. Sadly by the time I can afford one of the 225 of them in the US will likely be rusted hulks.

Edit: I just realized I selected a bunch of BMWs out of this thread. I guess I'm a bit biased
