I just came back from watching this. Wow. Just wow.

It's probably one of the best feelgood movies I've ever seen in my LIFE. if not, maybe among the best movies i've ever seen, well ever

There's a lot of funny references. You'll see. WINGO!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i laughed so hard @ wingo.

anyways, the movie is a technical masterpiece. Attention to detail is amazing. A lot of stuff in the background that you may recognize. Sound was incredible. The way they melded engine/car sounds and such to reflect personality, actions, etc was friggin creative as hell. If they don't get nominated for sound editting, then Acadamy Awards are just stupid. I wouldn't be surprised if they get nominated for visual effects. The visuals were really creative, and well done. I was amazed; "how can you make CG cartoons look better?" well, watch cars, and you'll see how incredible it is.

Granted, i watched the DLP version of the movie at a DLP theatre, so everything looked incredibly clear (the details, dust, etc).
The animation team is SOOOo creative. We see animated animals, etc, it still looks, somewhat fake. Well, ya, talking cars are fake too, but the way these cars talk, move, and such; they look so fliud and natural. It's almost as if this world exists, and as the movie goes along, you really want this world to exist.

11/10.

One of the best technical movies, best feelgood movies, best movies of all time (IMO).

EDIT: of course, the plot was a bit predictable, but that didn't prevent a lot of people @ the theatre to start crying (i heard a ton of sniffling, and people wiping tears). Even though some of it was predictable, it was soo well executed, that I, along with other people in the threatre, didn't care.

They do a tribute for their Head of Story Joe Ranft during the credits, who died in a car crash. I believe Cars was the last film he worked on.
So ya, you may want to watch all the credits. Isn't all that bad anyways, since they show some stuff during the credits. hehe.

I'm definitely watching it... i don't care if i'm surrounded by noisy 7 year olds.

I just want to hear Michael Schumacher's part.

after seeing the commercials; all I could think about was those gasoline commercials a few years back.

there's a few loud loud engine noises that may startle young ones.

The movie also shows very good messages to young kids (respect for elders, learned humility, etc...).

Great movie for everyone (car nuts, technical CG lovers, family, etc..). I have no idea how the talented Pixar team can pull off such a thing, but they did. Pixar is just far and above everyone else. I BET you they are fully capable of creating spectacular visuals for regular movies.

heck, they should make a spinoff studio to make CG for action flicks. After watching Cars, Pixar is not just about kid stories.
They ARE the benchmark in creative and technical usage of CG.

My son absolutely loved the movie. He was very excited to see it, especially with the marketing blitz. I am surprised he made it through the entire movie (it's about 2 hours in length) without a peep, and he's only 3. I am very glad he finally had a good movie experience. We took him to the movies to see 'Polar Express' when it came out, and because of the sheer overwhelming experience from the large screen and loud volumes, he has shied away from any theaters.

haha oh man, the last pixar couple of CG cartoon movies I watched, there were kids crying all the time . there was one little "wah" this time around, but it was due to loud loud engine noise during this one scene. It's great that little kids come to movies, but, when they cry, it ruins it for everyone . I'm glad that this time around, it was nearly incident free.

Wow, I thought the movie had great visuals but it felt long and drawn out. My 4 year old has been asking daily to go see this for the last 2 months. He got bored half way through and wanted to go home. It is not very kid orientated IMHO. The dialouge and montages don't hold their interest. As for drawing some tears, I have cried at many a movie and this was definately not one of them. I give the movie a 6/10.

This is all IMHO and in no way is meant to offend anyone.

I do have to say that I have loved all of Pixars other work. The story just didn't seem up to the level of their other films.

The theatre was packed with kids so my opinion might change a little if I see it in a better setting.

BEST. ANIMATED. MOVIE. EVER.

Cars is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.

I had doubts about this movie. I was wrong. It was excellent. 10 out of 10. Absolutely perfect. <-- period

I'm trying to decide/remember if there's still any other movie that I like more than this one.

The next time you have a couple of hours to spare, WATCH THIS MOVIE. I will be watching it again.

It looks like the typical stuff from Pixar. Just change the characters and the setting. I expect it to sell strong in the midwest and the NASCAR crowd, but I'll pass on this one.

Do yourself (and your son) a favor and finish the movie (assuming that you didn't).

We did stay till the very end. His interest picked up again towards the end racing scenes.

Finding Nemo was the worst Pixar flick IMO. That seems to conflict with the opinions of everyone else. Then again, they all think that Shrek sets some kind of benchmark.

Lion King and Aladdin: Yes. Yes.

I agree, I didn't think Finding Nemo was anything special...even Monsters Inc, I thought was better.
