Why are you wanting to "cascade" style sheets?

As I understand it, the idea of style sheets is to set up certain display attributes that a web book (multiple web pages ... my own bs term of the moment) can use to mantain a consistent style ...

I messed with this a year ago or so ... and found most of the tags to be very buggy... some worked only for netscape, others only for IE... others didn't seem to work in either... I lost interest...

I don't know anything about dreamweaver...

All I can offer is that you style sheets can take the attributes of the parent style sheet and can add or override attributes. In this way you can have global style sheets for the entire site, and then you can "cascade" the style sheet with another style sheet that will add to or modify the attributes for specific tweaks to sub pages...

I personally dont' care for them....

This will also move the question up for someone who does actually like them.

What is your problem? Style sheets are relatively simple... just define then, and either include in an external file (which is highly recommended) or include them in the HTML code. Use www.microsoft.com to help you out. They have tons of help pages in their database.

style sheets are definately what you need to know for HTML development. The font tags are getting ready to be depreciated...meaning that in the next version of HTML they will no longer be used or supported...the only way to develop is with a stylesheet. I like just spanning them and putting it in a *.css file. You do this by inserting the following in the <head> of the document.

<link rel=&quot;STYLESHEET&quot; type=&quot;text/css&quot; href=&quot;directoryandfilenameofyour.css&quot;>

Then you need to create the stylesheet. Want some advise? Dont use Dreamweaver...use Allaire Homesite 4. THen code it by hand...WYSIWYG just sucks and it will never turn out exactly right (especially if you are using both NetSCRAPE and IE). Good luck!

Here is my bit of advice. Dreamweaver is an excellent tool in my opinion. Go through their tutorial. Also, get a free non WYSWYG editor such as 1st Page 2000 from download. 1st Page 200 also includes a comperehensive tutorial for web editing.

Finally, in dreamweaver you can draw layers and next to them are numbers. These numbers let you define the &quot;casacding&quot; attribute of the layers.
