Case fans and power supply - connectors?

I am building my first computer and I was told to connect my case fans to the PSU and not to the motherboard. Too much draw on the motherboard? In following that advice, I am not sure what connetors to order. I am about to purchase an Enermax EG365P-VE FCA or an Enermax EG465P-VE FCA PSU and two Panaflo 80mm FBA08A12U fans (for the front of the case). I am not sure on what type of connectors to order - 3 or 4 pin tail adapter? I have an ABIT KR7A-RAID motherboard and a Lian-Li PC-30 case.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

4-pin connectors are for the PSU, 3-pin are for the motherboard. If you are ordering 80MM fans, then you should be fine to hook them to the motherboard, it's just when you talk about high output 92mm and 120mm that you should hook them to the PSU.

Can I daisy-chain the two cans together and run them to the motherboard or the psu? Or is that not recommended?

What's the best/safest configuration - motherboard or psu?

I think the safest thing to do is the PSU. I know that there were warnings against even some 60MM HSF fans (the Delta 7000K rpm for one) being attached to the mobo.

I don't know about those fans, but if they have fan speed (RPM) sensing then you'll lose that feature with the 4 pin (PSU) connector, but you can always pull that 1 pin out of the connector an then attach that to the MB that's what I'm doing so that I have all the functionalities without any safety/power issues.
