Case fans for dim4600

I need some case fans in my Dell Dim4600 to cool down the GPU mainly..

Without a house fan blowing air directly down into the case, it'll idle as high as 65C.

Any suggestions? I thought about putting 4 80MM or even 4 120MM fans on the removable side of the case, and then I thought about power consumption..

Could it be power that's causing my comp to reboot and not overheating of the GPU?

Honestly, no idea what the actual PSU is, but I can play HL2 for 2 hours with no problems, and a couple hours ago, it rebooted 30 seconds after logging onto windows.

Would 4 120MM fans fit on the side casing? And how much would it lower temps?

Any way to find out my PSU power? and how much is being used? Just by looking in the case quickly, I found nothing about rails / volts / watts on the PSU.

I assume your modding the case becuase, in my experiences, there is no way in hell you can add another single fan to a dell case, besides MAYBE the new XPS's. my former 9800xt idles at around 70 C and load 85-90C in the crappy dell case. Yes it was extremely hot, but it still worked for a year, before I built a new computer. Again, I am assuming your modding unless there is another way to put them on there. 4 120 mm fans would lower temps very considerably. As far as power consumption, you are out on a limb there. I would assume 4 120 mm fans wouldnt take too much power because I powered many fans with one of my dell PSU's once before for testing of the fans. This is the problem with dell. They tell you nothing, and I do mean absolutely nothing about the technical specification of the computer you are buying, such as the PSU , motherboard, and all that other nice stuff. Ram even. It is speculated that dell power supplies usually carry around 200-300 watts in a dimension 4600 system, but it is also speculated that dell underates their power supplies, so you may get a lot more power out of it than what it says on the tag.

What video card do you have in this thing? I've put an x850 xt in a 4600, worked fine.

You may want to try one of these.

That product may or even will help airflow and heat, but I tell you right now, that thing wont do no 20 degrees celsius lower than what your case is. Marketing crap, just like ATI.

Well I WAS going to get a new case, but if I can use a PCI fan...

I definitely have room for a PCI fan, because I have 3 PCI slots, and I can remove the 56k modem adapter PCI slot in the middle..

And I actually do have some room in my case, no more than 2 120MM fans on the side casing, and maybe 1-3 fans inside the case itself, the only problem is that I don't know where to put them for best airflow...

Could I get more than one of those PCI fans? And which one is the best cooler / most efficient.

CPU is a 2.66Ghz P4, 512MB of ram, ordering 2x512mb soon.
And the GPU is an AGP 6600GT that idles at 45 - 48C, 45 when first booting up and 48C after idling the comp for a while. So I'm guessing I can't put a high end card in my 4700 either? (1x PCI-E x16 slot) :-D. I doubt it can cool an x850xtpe or 7800GT / GTX. ...

Grr, chances are that it IS a PSU problem, what kind of PSU does a Dell Dim4600 use? Size-wise.

Also, as a temporary solution, can't I just unplug my floppy and dvd / cd-rw drives, I have 2 cd drives and one floppy...What is that, 30-50 watts? ;o.

I read through the Dell forums and it seems that many people have been able to use the 6600GT and even the 6800GT without a PSU upgrade. I have a 250W psu with a peak of 345W.

That should easily handle my card and a couple fans shouldn't it? Could it be my CPU overheating? OR something else? What about that PCI mem bar problem?

Answers?

-Thanks

my roomie used to have a 6800nu that ran in his dimension 4600, and it worked just fine.

if you really want to mod your casing, i would suggest you buying a new case and a new mobo. for me, it's better since you can add/remove fans, cards, etc easily with normal atx case instead of the proprietary dell components. plus, you get to oc that cpu too and lastly it looks cooler . that antec casing with psu looks good.
