Case fans

I was looking at my current setup with my case fans and it doesn't seem right to me so I thought I'd ask for opinions.

Currently I have 3 fans total in my case. One on my heatsink and two on the case. Currently the fan on the top of the case is pushing air out, which seems right to me. But the other case fine which pretty much lines up with my heatsink fan is pushing air into the case right at the heatsink fan, thats what doesn't seem right to me because the heatsink fan is of course pushing air out. So what I was asking was would you suggest I turn the case fan around and have it push out of the case as to keep pushing out the air that the heatsink fan is pushing.

This may be somewhat of a stupid question but I wanted someones opinion before I did switch the fan around. Thanks in advance.

Wait what? Turn the heatsink fan over? I was talking about turning the case fan over not the heatsink one.

You'd be having negative pressure.... Oh well, try it blowing air in and out and tell us

Ok your confusing me. The casefan is pushing air into the case, the heatsink fan (which is parallel to the case fan) is pushing air out. My thought was that with the heatsink fan pushing air out I should have the case fan also pushing air out.

Could somone please verify how I should have my fans set for optimal case cooling?

Case fan blows air in -> heatsink pushes air in towards the mobo -> case fan on top blows air out.

Ok well it looks as though my heatsink fan can only be set to blow air out, theres only screw holes on one side of the fan.

Then durr...
Negative air pressure is the way to go

Set all the fans for blowing out.

Hi, Best cooling is when the fans are blowing equally. That is about 1/2 are blowing out and the rest blowing in. The idea is really to move the air in and out of the case.
Luck, Jim

If you are not using equal air in to equal air out you are wasting your fans. Jim

I don't think that you'll see too much difference with any of the settings you've described.
I don't know why you've started messing with the fans anyways, but if you have heat problem you might need to add more/bigger fans. Otherwise if all is well, then I suggest you'll let it be.

I didn't read everything, but if you're asking which way the fan on your heatsink should be blowing, it should be blowing downward onto the cpu. THink of it like this - if you're hot, you don't have the fan facing away from you do you? No, you have the fan facing you to cool yourself off.

All CPU HSFs I have seen except modded ones blows air onto the heatsink, not away from it.

BTW I'm a supporter of positive pressure case cooling - Air in > Air out. All case fans should be sucking air in, except the rear fans which should be blowing air out.
