I'm going on a few trips soon, including a multi day canoe trip, and want to get a protective case for my equipment for when it's not in my backpack. Impact/shock protection is most important; some sort of water protection would be an excellent bonus. My camera will not end up in a shower with me at any point
What little I've read online seem to point to Pelican cases as being the best option; figured I'd ask around here for any advice, and for help with some of my more specific questions:
My setup consists of:
-Canon Rebel XSi
-Canon 55-250mm IS lens (well, not yet, but within a week or two )
-Canon 18-55mm IS lens
-Canon 50mm lens
-(2 other lenses, a 28-90mm Canon and a giant 18-210mm Cosina won't be with me most of the time)
-1 external flash
-A handful of filters, batteries, straps, and cleaning items
So, my questions:
1) Any suggestions beyond the Pelican lineup?
2) Where should I buy these cases? I've seen them at amazon and rei, however the site www.casefoam.com appears to have pretty good prices
3) What particular model would you suggest to fit all of the crud listed above in?
4) Do the cases come with the foam pre-cut? If not, how does one cut it on their own? If so, how does one ensure the foam they get is cut in a useful fashion?
