I was thinking of doing my first case mod with nothing other than a top of case vent with a possible 80mm fan. Any thoughts on this and how much it would drop the temp right now it is runing between 56-59 with seti running in the back ground.

Also would a small 4.00 amp/volt saw be able to make the hole needed or should I borrow a dremel?

Thanks for every ones input

I am not sure how much or even if this would really drop temps. Hopefully someone who has done this type of mod did before and after tests. However, it is my thinking (I could be wrong here) that a top blowhole may do more to disrupt proper airflow through your case. I always thought air came in the bottom front, then went out rear top. And a top blowhole seems to disrupt this. I have a blowhole on my main rigs case (was preinstalled) and I am not so sure I like it other than the red led fan looks pretty sweet shining out of the black case vent slots. Other than that, my temps are not stellar (to some people, I am not a big proponent of "Under 50C or bust" I just prefer a stable system and don't care too much about my temps). I'mn sure there are people who know better than I if a blowhole is a bonus or detriment to case cooling. Also, it seems to me that the Dremel is the tool de riguer for modding.

my case has a 92mm blowhole out the top which seems to work rather well. Unfortunately it came with it, so i have no knowledge as to what my temps are without it. My Athlon 1700+ runs at a cool 30-35 degrees with my one intake on the side window. The blowhole seems to aid in keeping the case cool, as warm air rises. I know that they can't hurt airflow much...

If the saw you are talking about is a jigsaw it would work great if you either have experience with it or are just good with tools. I use a jigsaw to cut holes. If you aren't careful they can start cutting in the wrong direction pretty quickly.

Use a hole saw if you have one available to you. I added a fan to the top of one of my cases sucking air out of the case, and it really didn't seem to help I don't know why, you would think it would have since heat rises
