this card is for those who upgrade with nearly every new card.. V3 to Geforce. Geforce to Geforce 2.. etc.
this card will be competing well in that arena. in fact, there are LOTS of people in this forum who do that, so I wouldn't be surprised to find a few people talking about their kickass speed, and then buying whatever the next gen card will be. they have money to burn, so it doesn't matter if it'll be obsolete!
Amazingly it would fit in my case! lol, it's not even a well known one! I must have a pretty good eye for cases! hehe.
for me, becuase my case isn't very tall (I think less then 2 feet), it would force all the front intake fan flow onto the cards and out the back (there are holes there, which is ok).
I don't mind, cuase I got a huge sucker of a 120 mm fan blowing in right on top of my video card, so much of the flow goes on the CPU, and the rest cools the rest of the cards. needless to say, I got my Voodoo 3 2000 running at 195mhz stable (ran 3D Mark 2K a few times), however I have it running at 183, becuase I don't want to risk the RAM (rated at 5.5ns, or 181 mhz).
I don't even have a fan on the heatsink yet (I will, and it'll probably hit 200 without overheating half way through the bench like it did last time I tried).
in any case, if you are worried about cooling, you should at least have a fan on the side blowing in, and one on the top blowing out. right now I'm itching to get that 450 watt power supply from enermax (I think that's the name) so I can get even more air blowing out of the case, to reduce the positive pressure it's under.
if I want to go even more insane on cooling, I'm going to have to install another 80mm on the top, and another fan (either 80mm, or 120mm) on the side, as well as that power supply.. I can't unfortunately get another fan on the front. hmm.. maybe I should put two new 80mms on the side, one on the lower cards, and one on the CPU! and of course the new PS, and another 80mm on the top! heh..
