They must've moved up the released date on it. The sites I had checked last month didn't have anything slated for March. I'm also seeing Happy Feet and a few others.

Honestly I wouldn't worry about it. The companies may be too vested in their own technologies to give up before the next few years are over. By that time, we should have cheap HD/BR players just like DVD players.

look at it this way:
Universal Pictures is the only exclusive to HD-DVD
Sony, Fox, Lionsgate, and Disney are exclusive to BD

Disney has a few SMASH hits releasing on BD in the coming months, and both Sony and Fox always have a few huge releases.

Sony plans to bring a BD player at the $300 pricepoint by the end of the year, likely sooner than that considering they are already bringing a $500 player to market very soon.

and people arguing the low ratio of hardware sales to software sales, realize that not every PS3 owner will buy BD because not every owner either believes in adopting a new format, OR does not have an HDTV and views said formats as worthless for themselves.

I am sticking to BD and at this point just don't see HD-DVD challenging the format

Whoever makes it to the $250-$300 plateau first will win. PS3 or not, $300 or so is the critical price point for many, many buyers. A 2:1 advantage on what is out now is a drop in the bucket compared to what the market will be when either of these technologies hits the mainstream.

If the Chinese manufacturers start ramping up production on cheap BR players and have firmware that's capable of being hacked for the region code, it's going to be a close race. For the price point, HD-DVD has the decided advantage right now.

Were already near the $300 mark. The HD-A2 with 5 free HD-DVDs is $360ish shipped from Amazon.

The Chinese manufacturers are supposed to have some HD-DVD players sometime in 2007. I'm sure we will get closer to the $200 mark with them.

I wouldn't doubt a $200ish HD-DVD player and a $400ish Blu-ray player by Christmas this year.

HD-DVD titles have been slow the past few months, but there are several titles scheduled for release this spring/summer. The war is far from over.

one, Toshiba has acknowledged that specific 51gb disc has not been submitted to the 'Forum as others have suggested.
also, it would screw over all current HD-DVD adopters, as there is no way they can get that spec of HD-DVD to work in current players. Reason: the 51gb disc utilizes three 17gb layers. Current HD-DVD spec calls for 15gb layers.

And Sony can bring out a triple-layer 75gb disc. Question remains if current players could play that. Not sure if moving from dual to triple layer would require merely a firmware update or a whole new drive mechanism. no one has claimed to either direction.

From a UK standpoint I see Blue Ray movies available, but pretty much NO HD-DVD titles on the shelves. If I had to choose right now I'd choose BR.

Casino Royale on Blu-Ray and regualr DVD is a long wait at Netflix, typical of all new releases. The only reason I have Blu-Ray is because I have a PS3. If I didn't have the PS3 I would be waiting for the prices to drop and I probably would pick up the least expensive of the two (HD-DVD vs BR).

That's why I really like Blockbuster online. I can take movies from the online servce to the store in my town and get free rentals(I got casino royale yesterday as a free rental). Since I have the HD player for my xbox360, I'm forced to get the regular DVD anyways. :thumbsup: to Blockbuster Online.

This format war sucks. I need a relatively cheap dual format player (that isn't gimped) to hit the market. I have a PS3 right now so I do rent BR movies, but there are movies on HD-DVD that I would like to see also. Stupid bastards should have worked this out before all this started.

I'm in the same boat when it come to HDDVD's. They'll eventually start carrying them in stores when more titles are released, then I'll start using my free rentals for those, as well as get HD titles through the online service .

I found it to be boring, excruciatingly long, and Craig has no charisma... someone else said it was a Bourne movie, not a Bond movie.

It was a pointless film, with an unconvincing ending.

As far as I'm concerned, it does not compare with the rest of the series (which should've ended, anyway, with the last Brosnan flick)

I remember quite a few years ago I read a science-fiction book which had its main characters indifferently passing by a theater showing a film with the 10th Bond actor, this time Bond being an Asian (!).... Now, considering that Sony has had the hots for the Bond franchise since the '70s, it's conceivable that it has played a major part in the decision made by the "electronic Godzilla" regarding the acquisition of MGM Studios... and that it will stubbornly refuse to release it in a competing video format UNLESS BR urns out to be a flop (which I hope will be the case).

Mark my words: allowing corporations to control BOTH the software AND the hardware is a very bad idea.
