Yep, just another way to demonize that terrible terrible act. They used to say that you would fry in hell for casual sex (in other words, don't have fun without feeling guilty for god loves it when you feel guilty), and they got laughed at. Now they take an almost completely baseless statement and try to scare hell out of kids with it.

FACT: Less than 3% of us AIDS transmissions occur between non-drug users engaging in heterosexual sex. If you stay away from people who have used needles (a small minority in this country anyway) and are not gay, your chances of catching AIDS is very small.

Funny...the gay subculture and the fundementalists stand as one on this topic...but they do so for completely different reasons. Homosexual activists want to scare you about AIDS because they are the group in this country that gets it the most. They want to keep AIDS in the forefront because curing AIDS helps them more than anyone (while smoking, sugar, and twelve different forms of cancer each kill more people every year). The fundementalists will do whatever they can to get persons to conform to their version of morality, even if it means bending the truth.

get tested, and insist your partners are tested. and don't forget your six month waiting period. you can be certain of not contracting aids AND have sex. it's AMAZING!

My feeling is like everything else.... Moderation is the key.... practice safe sex... don't be a whore... (moderator not sure if this word is acceptable... if it's not I apologize) and as long as you do this... your still much safer having sex than driving a car...

If this book says CASUAL SEX KILLS and it's *right* then I can't run around screwing every woman who doesn't have the sense to say NO to someone like yourselves.
So instead, you blame it on Christians being a bunch of idiots and not knowing what they're talking about.

You should have enough &quot;balls&quot; to come out and say that you don't agree without dismissing the other person's viewpoint. I'll tell you - the message is accurate. Sure, you may get lucky (in every sense of the word) and avoid getting an STD. You may not. You also may not realize you have it since AIDS is time-delayed, as opposed to stuff like Chlamydia(sp?) and such, where the effects are seen in a few days.
STD's screw your life up good, and abstinence *IS* a guarantee. It's all you can do to prevent it. You're not going to get it through the heavily-screened blood supply in a transfusion, and hopefully you'll never encounter a syringe-wielding druggie.

I once had the opinion of many here - I wanted the absolute right to do anything I darned well please and hated any rule that prevented me from it. Then I came to the realization those rules are only for my own protection... the misery that came from chasing anything in a skirt finally caught up with me. I'm a married man now, and loathe those days from my past. If I could do things differently, I'd have stayed a virgin and saved myself a lot of trouble.

Some people don't reach this conclusion until it's too late, or they're too old. Or never.

not really. when you donate blood, the screening process looks for HIV antibodies. Just because these antibodies don't exist doesn't mean the virus isn't there. HIV is a retro-virus and it can stay dormant for a long period of time. It does this by transfering its own genes into the host DNA and hide there. Until we can find the marker for the virus in the T-cell DNA, there's no 100% sure way to avoid the virus.
