cat 3.10's release wednesday

I saw over at Rage3D that the new Cat's are being released wednesday. I can't seem to find anything else on them regarding fixes and what not. If anyone else can find this please post below.

according to the rule of mathmatics, there is always an understood zero after the .1, so therefore, are they releasing catalyst 3.1 again? or am i high?

I think you mean 4.0 or 3.91, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9.

It's not math. If you're not following math rules, there's no reason why you can't have 3.10. It just means Catalyst 3, version 10.

I can't seem to find anything else on them regarding fixes and what not.

They always tell us when they're released. =)

Nope he means what he said. It's 3.10, and as explained by clicknext.

If I remember correctly they usually released in the afternoon...?? It's all over the Rage3d forums though.

From my understanding the 3.10's are the 3.9's only WHQL tested and are hotfixed. CoD, etc are fixed.

Unfortunately no NFSU or Prince of Persia fixes in these, apparently.

Good God... they ARE called the Catalysy 3.10's. Not everything has to apply to a rule.:beer:

I was pretty sure the driver names went by <year>.<revision or version>. So the first drivers released in '04 will be the Catalyst 4.0's.

I believe it goes by year.month. Sure, it's December now, but WHQL certification may take a while--the drivers may have been completed in October and only certified now. Either that, or ATi is playing fast and loose with its naming conventions again.

Does anybody have any problems with 3.9's and BF1942? When i play, then escp and go to the menu... it scratches up bad... if it was gameplay I'd say they were artifacts, but i go back to the game and its crystal clear.

Yes the menu transition does appear to "scratch up".

A couple other problems I would *love* to be fixed in these Cat's include:

1. NFSU choppiness with AA/AF on, even at 1024x768x32 with 4xAA 16xAF (choppiness on this card is inexcusable considering I purchased it for HL2, Doom3)

2. Prince of Persia appears "foggy or out of focus" sometimes, or I guess a better word would be blurry.

3. Halo performance.

Those are the obvious things I would like to see fixed, anyone else have anything they would like to add to the list?

Yay, will download tomorrow, I must admit I haven't been too fond of ATi's drivers so far, I hope these will help in improving that.

By the way, in the software business, using 1.9 -> 1.10 tends to be more common than 1.9 -> 2.0, see the Linux kernel for example, the current series is at 2.4.23, and the ages old 2.0 series reached 2.0.39.

Hehe...I`ve needed to use the Omega drivers,btw these 3.10s have very nice image quality,I`ve tried a few games like UT2003,Q3 and all seems fine.

What exactly are the differences between the ATi and Omega drivers. I know the Omega drivers are just tweaked versions of the official ones, but whatare the differences?

Ever since i add a 9800 pro my system restarts on its on. From screensaver, when i come back and click on something or when i play call of duty. Could it be the drivers b/c when i restart windows says its a device problem. The ones i use now are the 3.9's and wondering how the 3.10's are and if they may help? Or could it be my power supply.(cheap 550)

I was having refresh rate problems, resolution resets, the 2d (desktop work, applications) looked horrible. Since installing these I haven't had any problems

With that rig I would seriously invest in a good powersupply! Think Antec or Fortron...
