If you're serious about filtering, you'll have to go further than those Jabtech things. The bigger the better with a filter. You can install a big/good filter like some of those in my link.....and not touch it for six months, and still have a clean case that's running cool.

actually bluefront i have to disagree with you. Were only blocking Cat Hair. Not microscopic mold, anything super small. Those filters work with slow moving CFM fans, so you dont need strong fans on them. And they will stop cat hair! which the op is looking for.

Ive used all the filters listed at jab-tech. Ask john, im quite a spender over there.

And in my experience, those filters gave me the best performance because there very free flowing. sponge filter inside does a great job at trapping dust, fur, and other nastys. I can vouch for them as i have 6 on my main U2 rig.

The other filters, the dust will cake onto it, and then clog the filter. I havent had anything in my house which will last longer then 2 months without attention. Those filters will last about 1 month, but cleaning makes up for the short coming in duration.

Its nothing as massive as the units you build, and probably arent as efficent, however, they will do the job.

The OP ordered some so he'll give it a try, however, those filters have never let me down.

But OP, those filters is what i and a lot of my friends over at XS use. There ugly, i admit, but they work, and there easy to clean. They wont trap micro dust particles like bluefront's will, but were only stopping cat hair and other macro particles. Also i dont think you want to MOD your entire case to fit a HEPA style filter.

If this was a autobody shop with constant dust due to sand paper, and painting, then i would say go with blue fronts approach but for just preventing car hair, those filters will do you fine.

Well....the OP makes sound like a very serious problem. He's burning up vacuum cleaners? This sounds like it'll take more than a few simple filters slapped over a fan to fix the problem. I don't deal with cat hair (wouldn't have the things), but I do have a rather severe fine dust problem.......which my bigger/better filters have solved.

No S**t! Pantyhose! My problem with filters is that my tower has a lot of inlets and it is nearly impossible to put filters on them all. On the other hand pantyhose can be pulled over the entire thing except for the rear exhausts. Kinky! And plenty fine for cat hair. Have to buy them though cause nobody on this Island wears em. You have hit on it!
Thanks

i used to recomend this method until, i noticed some panty hose will start to rip over time.

And once it starts ripping its all overs for the filter.

So i just went after market.

But yes panty hose is another option and does a good job.

I completely agree with you. Had the op said he was in the middle of nebraska in the dust bowl, during autum, then yea, i would say your only option is to create a clean air machine. But he said the cat hair is the problem. So i figured a working, and easy cleaning option could be his best route.

But if the cheap filter idea doesnt work, then yeah, the op will have to go with your method.

When I was still a pup my mom could be found any weekend summer morning dragging her pantyhose around the pool :Q
She un-bent a coathanger and poked it through the waistband coming all the way round to make a loop, tied the legs in a knot and had a decent little skimmer / net to clean the bugs and leaves.

I know it holds long haired cat fur because we used to have this fluffy white 20lb cat and we would stuff him down one leg of a pair of pantyhose and tie off the leg. It gave him a very strange look and kept him out of trouble for a while.

As suggested earlier I used to cover all the airslots with airfilters with a dime sized whole in the middle.

Bio sponge
