My gf has a cat which is 11 months. She only gets fed canned food which her stomach can tolerate better. Recently, she has figured how to open the cabinet with her food in it. (She is fed 3 portions a day.)

She is not being starved by any means but she will climb up and try to eat your food or she will meow and rub against you and the cabinet if you walk into the kitchen.

When we first got her... her favorite place was hiding in corners or sitting on top of the towel rack in the bathroom. For the last couple months she just sits patiently in front of the cat food cabinet all day!! This must gets boring but she does it all day. If shes not sitting she is pawing her way into the cabinet since she knows how to open the cabinet now.

Anyone else have a "always" hungry cat!!

Sorry for the grammar.

Cats can be and are trained. This cat has been trained to sit in front of said cabinet where food is to get "some" attention.

1) move food. It doesn't have to be all of it but at least the du jour
2) play with cat ... stupid lasers are a start
3) pet cat, but if cat resists wear a heavy sweat shirt AND pet cat
4) make a cat tree. Start with 1 box, then experiment with stacking the boxes. Crinkly paper in the box tells you where cat is and is at it should be.

Probably just needs more attention.

Some cats are also just intrigued by any food and are pigs. Mine likes BBQ chips and icecream quite a lot. I have to watch out when I'm eating those two things as she will try to get a bite. Sometimes I'll let her have a bit but I usually don't as it's not really good for her.

Cats also find the weirdest spots that they like. Mine is on top of my chair's headrest right now. Sometimes I forget she's there and swivel the chair too fast. Gets her attention LOL.

I have one that follows me to the bathroom and climbs up the toilet to get on the counter then paws at my hand trying to force me to pet him. They quickly know where to be to get food and attention so it's best to separate those areas.

My cat likes vegetables. He begs for food whenever people are eating. Once I had some chicken and some lettuce left over on my place and he jumped up and took the lettuce but left the chicken alone. Cat's are messed in the head. You just have to go with it.

3 a day seems much to me, I even keep trying to get my wife to do once a day and just leave dry food out.

They still overweight a bit, one more so than another.

Cats are weird and you have to watch em, used to have one that would eat everything I did, even vegetables.

He'd eat spinach even, peas, broccoli etc.

They all have different personalities, much as many try to say otherwise.

I believe she is fed 1 can split into 3 or either 1 can split into two.. then a second can which is used the next day for 1 portion.

I believe its 1 can split in half which would be breakfast and lunch. Then dinner is 1 half of another can. Im not 100% sure because its my girlfriends routine she got from a cat forum i guess.

Sounds pretty good you leave dry food out too ?

We have one that eats dry food almost exclusively here, other then the can gravy, is a bit of a balancing act.

And the one that eats the canned food is skinnier, even though we have him mostly Blue Buffalo weight control.

He loves his Blueberries and Cranberries, and Veggies.

Nope, i think the vet said switch to Canned because dry gives her crazy diarrhea. Picked up some freeze dry snacks for her but that stuff is pretty expensive for the small amount you get.

He he he, looks like Joey.

One of the cool thing about Joey is his eyes change color wherever he is.

I'm going to log that one day, his eyes are like a chameleon, they go from blue to green to gold depending where he is, instantly, I guess his eyes just reflect it back at any given moment.

cats like to always "have a little left"

give him dry food as well as the canned food, give him a full bowl... he'll eat the canned food first and then eat a little of the dry food, and then he'll go be a cat...

he's just afraid he's completely out of food.

he will get "spoiled" to that amount though......and start trying to move to...not being able to see the bottom of the bowl...

move the food or conceal the scent better. if i toss an old treat bag into a trash can, my cat would circle itnlike a shark.

also, make sure you feed them at regular intervals. sometimes they get the time wrong, but ive had two cats who werr very goos at notifying us its dinner time.

also...shes 11 months, play with her elsewhere and give her treats when u play
