catalyst 12.4 released

Anyone have issues with the application profiles being broken after installing this driver? They seemed to work fine for me with 12.3...

12.3 was an absolute disaster, I don't want any of this. It's 12.1 for me until something more relevant comes out.

What issues have you experienced? I just jumped from 11.5 to 12.3 and haven't noticed anything.

Thank god, it seemed like a windows update last week broke the 12.3 driver for me. I was constantly having to reboot after what appeared to be GPU crashes. I never once got a classic 'BSOD' but I'd constantly get the display either just blacking out or turning an orange or brown color and never recovering. Once it even displayed a pretty pinstripe pattern. I'd constantly have to system restore and postpone windows updates to keep my desktop working. (this is all while surfing the web, btw. Not even gaming or having the GPU go above idle temps) I even pulled the 4870 and ran on the IGP for a bit, because I assumed the GPU was the problem. It still crashed whenever it wasn't in safe mode. Now everything's fully up to date, and i've gone 12+ hours without a crash.

This makes no sense.

Your assuming things about a new release, without any knowledge of the release, or really any knowledge to base this opinion off of?

Guess all future releases fix nothing.

Just checked. Physics score is still over 9200 so overclock is good. POS amd driver team

Somethings wrong Don as my score improved by 20+ points.

Edit: Nevermind, missed your comment about fixing the driver issue.

With 12.4 BF3 seems to have a framerate increase for my 7970, because now I'm maintaining an easy 60 FPS on ultra on maps like Oman or Caspian.

Weirdly when I first started the game I got some sort of flickering in game on the textures, but I just simply switched the graphic settings back and forth and haven't seen the flickering issue since.

My 3Dmarks went up a few hundred, not much difference.

Skyrim works flawlessly with my 5850 on 12.4. 12.3 was a horrid mess with crazy textures with AA turned on.

So what's the consensus about 12.4? I just updated a crapton of my Win7 system images with Cat 12.3, but if 12.4 is good and 12.3 has tons of issues, it's probably behoove me to reimage everything.

Drivers seem"ok". I swear I'm getting more stuttering and fewer frames in Skryim but not sure how to benchmark it to be sure.

I second the 12.4 Skyrim is alot smoother. 12.3 I could only run 4x AA with FPS jumping from 40-60. Now it is pretty stable at 60 fps.

I update to the new WHQL every month, over time it only gets better. I've never seen an unusable release and I bought my 5870 on launch day. There was 1 or so sketchy months in 10.x and 11.x releases but overall it's best off to stay on the latest.

I don't overclock though, use the in-game settings for everything (best way because each rendering engine differs), and don't use any 3rd party utilities. Thus, I never run into problems. I've been very pleased with 12.2 and 12.3.
From what I've read in other forums 12.4 is even better. If there is ever a dip in performance I don't notice it- but I do notice the bug fixes over time.

After my upgrade I lost about 50 points in 3d mark extreme, earlier I used to get 3400+ but not now. Only diff is upgrade to a diff mobo z77 deluxe and change from 12.4 beta to 12.4 final. All bios settings are the same, same everything. 50 points loss is too much

There was a Ccc setting, corrected that and score is a bit higher now

What inputs and adapters are you using? Reading what others say, you have to get a specific eyefinity approved adapter device, and you must use the same inputs no matter what. If you mix inputs, such as dp dp hdmi you will get tearing guaranteed.

Right now:
Left Screen - DVI Native (deferred)
Middle Screen - miniDP -> DVI Active Adapter
Right Screen - HDMI -> DVI.

however im re-arranging them to be
Left Screen -HDMI-> DVI
Middle Screen - DVI Native (deferred)
Right Screen - miniDP -> DVI

as i only use the right screen in games, on desktop i use left and middle.

right now on the destop, moving windows doesnt tear with DVI Native set to deferred, but I get center screen tearing when watching flash videos.

My Card (Sapphire HD7950 OC) only has 2 miniDP, 1 HDMI, 1DVI. so regardless I'd have to use two different "clocks".

it is, 12.2 and 12.3 both felt like they were choking my 7950, there's still a lot of bugs though, specially in eyefinity mode.
