I want the features from MMC 9 (pausing TV, rewind TV, etc.) and I'm not paying for a third party rogram.

You're not going to get them with any version (released) of MMC with a TV Wonder....period. The first TV Wonder solution that will support the full PVR features of AIW will be TV Wonder USB 2.0.

Not in this case it isn't. MDE owns a TV Wonder card for starters. Downloading MMC from ATI is a free download regardless of whether you have hardware that supports it anyway.. is definately not warez. MMC "should" install with a NVidia graphics card because he is using also using a TV Wonder tuner card...however, it doesn't work for some owners for some reason I'm not sure they've ever got to the bottom of. There are some funky workarounds, but TV Wonder will likely be the blackeye of the lineup untill they ditch it for the upcoming USB 2.0 version, which looks "very" promising to me. Unfortunately, it looks as if the current and legacy TV Wonder cards will never live up to their potential.

Well I think I will now correct myself. The 4.6 catalysts didn't install correctly first time so, after some un-installs, restarts and re-install they now work fine

I keep saying use Driver Cleaner,but nobody listens to me anymore .

That is not true. There is an issue that affects "some" users installing TV Wonder in a rig with a Nvidia graphics card, it is not however because ATI put in a detector preventing the installation.

If you have some information that proves this to be true, I'd like to see it, as I've tried helping a few users with this issue.

Quake II is also screwed up running around 25-30 FPS instead of the usual 90+ FPS I get with my normal settings.

Thank goodness the fixed the gamma stuff. I hated having to re-start my computer every time i wanted to exit out of a game and do some other stuff.

Catalyst 3.9 are the best drivers. Most bug free and fastest in nearly every game.
Not as fast in 3dmark, but faster in most every game.I think maybe they traded some real world performance for a "score you can brag about".I've tried every new version as they come out and always go back to the 3.9.

It`ll probably be few more releases before we see it,but it`ll be worth the wait .


Btw I`ve done more testing with Freelancer(at least another 10 gaming hours) and I can`t get it to crash with these drivers,my opinion is these drivers(4.6) are excellent for me.

They fixed it? Nice - maybe I can finally use a 4.x driver now. I'm still using the 3.10's because of that stupid gamma thing.

What`s hard about removing ATI drivers via Control Panel(add/remove icon) then booting into safe mode after and running Driver Cleaner(just select ATi)?

Anyway whatever works for you I guess,btw there is a readme file that has full instructions for Driver Cleaner.

Well for one there is no real way to boot into safe mode on my computer.Press f8 while booting it gives me the choice to bood from cd, dvd, or floppy. No option for safe mode. It would only give me a safe mode option if windows crashes a couple times in a row.

COD doesn't hardlock for me with those drivers but it does stutter every time I enter a new portal.
About a quarter of a second freeze up. All the 4.x drivers do it. 3.9 does not.

the 4.6's fixed my far cry problems (9200 vivo 128MB) i thought it was because of the overclocking but it was the drivers. all is well now

It hardlocks, VPU recover kicks in or the monitor completely loses its signal. Usually it's random which of the three occur but the end result is that I always have to reboot the system.

What isn't random is where it happens - the second level as you approach the MG42 nests and they start firing. I can reproduce it with 100% accuracy on all Catalyst 4.x drivers. OTOH on Catalyst 3.10 I can play the entire game from start to finish without a single problem.

I've been sending ATi constant feedback about this (including the crashlogs when I get them) but I get the feeling they can't even reproduce the problem, much less fix it.

#2 - anyone happen to know if the omega "special" opengl driver is better for Enemy Territory than the ATi one? I stuck with the ati one since the release notes for the official one says some small ET gains, but omega does seem to think this speshul one is better for CS and other "older" opengl games.
