New Features

This release of Catalyst® introduces the following new features:

* Overlay Theater Mode Enhancement
* Avivo? Video Converter

Overlay Theater Mode Enhancement

This release of the Catalyst® introduces an enhancement to the Overlay Theater mode found in the Catalyst® Control Center. This enhancement allows for higher resolution than the current desktop setting to be available for the Overlay Theater mode.
Avivo? Video Converter

This release of Catalyst® introduces the Avivo? Video Converter. The Avivo? Video Converter is a transcoder tool that provides a quick and easy way of converting videos from one format to another. The Avivo? wizard found in the Catalyst® Control Center, allows the user to select the input file, and output format, along with the quality level and file location. The Avivo? Video Converter accepts a wide variety of file formats as a source, and outputs to file formats such as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4/DivX, WMA, H.264/AVC and more. Click on How to use the Avivo? Performance Improvements

As with most Catalyst® releases, performance has increased in various situations.

* 3DMark05: Pixel Shader test runs as much as 1-2% faster, primarily when Anisotropic Filtering is enabled
* Call of Duty 2: Framerates are up 5-10% on the enthusiast-class ATI Radeon® X1800 and ATI Radeon® X1900 products

Issues Resolved in Catalyst® Software Suite 6.3

The following section provides a summary of the issues that are resolved in the latest release of Catalyst®. These include:

* 3DMark06: Setting the display to 2560x1600 with AA set to 4x no longer results in graphic corruption being noticed when running the HDR tests. Further details on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-21768

You need to add the blit line in your eq2.ini. It works (and it's not specific to ATi cards).

Dosn't work on the X1000 series, even with the line. I havent tried the 6.3's yet though. Maybe they stealth fixed it.

We found another bug with EverQuest II and enabling Antialiasing. This is a very well known bug and ATI is working on a fix. In the past with Catalyst 5.12 and earlier, we had to put in an EQ2.INI file that had the command ?r_aa_blit 1?. This allowed AA to function on all ATI cards. However, with the beta driver we used for testing, this did not work. We were not able to get AA working in EverQuest II. ATI is working on the problem.

no, AVIVO is for X1xxx only

Hopefully the gains they claim are there and not exagerated gains ATi has claimed in the past.

no, AVIVO is for X1xxx only

theres a cracked version that works for any video card. it was posted no this forum.

heh, i actually got the beta version of the avivo converter that works with any card. it just uses the CPU only, not the GPU.

any news on this avivo converter from the 6.3 cats that will work on any card?

Installed 6.3's. So far no issues. The way ATI set the AVIVO video converter up is kinda stupid, but I'll be testing it out later. Here's to hoping the quality is decent
