Now lets just hope that ATI will take care of the rest of their card lines and finally add some flippin AGP support in their new drivers as well.
Is this a joke or something?Yeah, I can't believe he's gone. Yesterday he used FRAPS for the first time on his Crossfire setup and an hour later he just threw himself under a Greyhound over on 42nd st. The Dude had performance issues, at least that's what his wife told me.
AMD did what they had to do ... bring up HD2900xt X-Fire performance to GTS' SLI levels ... but there is no "happiness" with GTS' sli and DX10 games.Originally posted by: honestjohn

What to now have 10 FPS as the minimum instead of 5?
*none* of these new DX10 games are playable on any SLI or X-Fire rig @19x12 with everything maxed plus 4xAA/16xAF ... look at the pathetic minimum frame rates. ... even with GTX SLI - best results- there are only a couple of games that manage a 32FPS as the minimum; the majority are in single digits to 20s - certainly not satisfactory for a demanding gamer.
so your are bound to be pretty annoyed if you are a SLI'd Ultra owner still having to chose between AA and 'details' for playable FPS.
for me ... Forget Xfire [or sli] ... i don't need any more then my current setup for totally maxed out DX9 @16x10 ... and another 2900xt would be a complete waste as DX10 games would still bog.
so ... i will be content with DX9c ... for now
... and that i guessed right that AMD *had* to bring CrossFire scaling up to the GTS standards .... that was a very recent prediction.
--And they will get better at it ... probably next gen is for me ... or not ...
Dude, I didn't say Crossfire users would be doing cart-wheels and dancing naked in the streets. It was simply a comparison to single card performance which show's zero improvement.

Now, IF they can further DOUBLE performance, it might make actually make CrossFire practical for maxed out DX10 games over 16x12 but it is highly doubtful they can achieve that kind of further performance increase ... so for now - i'll keep my money and my clothes on [thankfully] and refrain from dancing in my road.
actually ... that was pretty funny about "sensitive Vinnie" and his disappointing X-fire performance ... and i would have picked a train as i already got hit by a bus in Honolulu and survived
... too bad about my AGP x1950p i sold in June - i haven't heard anything bad yet from my buyer about the drivers
I heard the Catalyst 7.11 The "Do You Feel Lucky Driver" Set is also going to be a good one, so you may need to start working-out for your run down Main Street.
You really got hit by a Bus? How did you survive? Transit or School?
Regarding the X1950 Series. See below. It's an excerpt from the Release Notes. It doesn't affect everyone running XP or Vista Users, but still. .....
7.9 Release Notes:
Caution: Installing the Catalyst software suite 7.8 or 7.9 on a system containing the ATI Radeon? X1950 AGP series of product may result in either the desktop failing to be drawn properly or the operating system failing to boot. It is recommended to continue using Catalyst 7.7 for this product at this time.
