I'm curious to see how well the 2900 does at F@H. I was within one week of making the top 10 on the United Devices Team Anandtech when they pulled the plug on the project. :|

Excerpt from release notes.

OpenGL performance is improved on the ATI Radeon? X1950 XTX at high resolutions (1920x1200 or greater) with anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering enabled. Doom 3 and Quake 4 improves as much as 13-18%, and Prey improves at least 15.6%. The ATI Radeon? X1950 Pro and X1650 XT also sees improvements in Doom 3 and Quake 4 of up to 14.1% at higher resolutions with anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering enabled.

Wow...

first tests on 2900xt crossfire show about a 300 point improvement in 3dmark 06. i also can now select the different forms of AA (box ,tent and narrow tent) while keeping the level set to application controlled.

the best news for me, battlefield 2142 performance has GREATLY increased, its like night and day over the old drivers in crossfire, no more flickering and absolutely smooth as silk game play. now to toy around with the new AA settings we can now use while keeping the levels set to application controlled..........

The installation routine is a little different. Gave me the option to install Free Games and EarthSim but passed.

Thanks for real-world actually helpful comments. I don't know why but there are so many fluff comments on here, it's a waste of time reading some messages. (Of course, a lot of useless crap is posted by me.)

It hasn't been 2 full days yet and case-mod.com hasn't shipped my X1650 XT yet. They say on their site that 98% of their orders ship whithin 48 hours. I don't know if that applies to orders from Canada using a credit card though. I have seperate billing and shipping addresses.

EDIT: I stand corrected. They just sent me the tracking number for it. Wow, that's cool.

EDIT: IF THE PERFORMANCE IS REALLY IMPROVED, THEN ALL BENCHMARKS ON THE INTERNET SHOULD BE UPDATED. Sorry for the yelling.

im on 32bit xp.

i think the battlefield 2142 performance is so much better because it was so terrible before with the old drivers, its even mentioned in the knows issues for the older drivers, all of the flickering and blooming but shes smooth as silk now.

You can't currently use the 2900XT with F@H. The client software only detects X1600's to X1900's... We'll have to wait until they release a new client..

Although I can't wait until I can.. hopefully the 2900XT will do some serious crunching..

Installing an ATI Radeon? X1900 CrossFire? Master and X1900 slave under Windows XP no longer results in AA settings failing to be retained when rebooting the system

YES! I'm so happy

arggg, unfortunately though battlefield 2 still isn't fixed, blooming and flashing like crazy on night maps in special forces but it isnt crashing anymore, i think that was a over clocking issue on my end.

yea, it was a over clock issue for me, i dropped my cpu over clock some and shes just fine, i need to tweak my voltages later tonight. i do still get that horrible blooming though in bf2 night maps when night vision is turned on but i think its only crossfire related. i dealt with it for months with my x1900 crossfire setup, if i turn off the cat AI it goes away. they finally fixed it in last months cat for crossfire and now i have to deal with it all over again on these 2900's, it sucks because i love the night maps, hehehe. i do have to admit though, my BF2 FPS have increased across the board also, its performing much better in crossfire.

the blooming is intentional with night vision O_O
Night vision is ultra sensitive to light so looking @ a bright light will over-whelm your vision

NOW, there ARE oddities with bloom on night maps WITHOUT night vision. Polygons shifting bloom on/off @ odd times.

this is a different effect, it happens when you turn your head really fast with night vision on, you get almost whiteout horizontal flashes on screen, it also happens during flash bang effects and tear gas effects. i suppose blooming isnt the proper term but im not sure what is, i refer to it as fubared, heheh. it only happens with AI turned on and only for crossfire from my experience. i just like to keep the ai on for the other maps.

Well, I went and installed these and noticed that my screen immediately became dimmer. I thought there was some kind of conflict, so I went and formatted (I wanted to anyway) and reinstalled. The screen was fine until, once again, I installed the 7.5 drivers and everything went dim.

Vista 32bit with a Samsung 226BW.
