9.5amps -> 70+amps is scary....
What version of GPU-Z are you using? I think roughly around release 0.2.7 is when that feature first started appearing.Originally posted by: Modular
How do you get GPU-Z to show amperage draw? Is that a feature of the 4870 X2 and not the 4850?

DX10+Catalyst 9.1+quad = ?
Last November, we underlined the multi-threading optimisation of NVIDIA drivers in DirectX 10 in contrast to AMD drivers which didn?t have it. Contacted on this subject, AMD told us that they were working on drivers which would include this in the first quarter of 2009. AMD has been able to provide us with a beta version of the forthcoming Catalysts which will now be multithreaded in some DirectX 10 applications. They carry the numbering 8.561.3 and seem to be an optimisation that will be integrated as of Catalyst 9.1.
So as to see how they perform in practice, we carried out the tests in Crysis and World In Conflict again. In both cases, the tests were carried out at a res of 800*600 so as to limit the impact of the graphics card and concentrate on processor limitation, at high settings however so as to maximise processor load.
While there really doesn?t seem to be much change in World In Conflict and multithreading doesn't seem to offer much optimisation in this game, there are significant gains in Crysis: 9% better with dual-core and 22% with a quad! The gain on the dual-core was actually unexpected and the processor limitation on the 4870 was lower for this processor than the GTX 280, with equivalent scores on the quad. The ratio between the dual and quad is ?only? 16%, compared to 21% on NVIDIA.
Good news then for Radeon owners. It remains to be seen if AMD will extend this optimisation to all DX10 titles over the coming months.

I haven't had a single problem with Ati drivers since I picked up my 4850. I was using an nVidia card before that and had no problems with their drivers either.

I haven't had many problems either but if you want a problem fire up dx10 farcry 2. Instant problem and repeatable everytime.
