Oh just give them a break. They'll probably change the notes as soon as possible.

No breaks. It shows a lack of QA doing their job and getting documentation out there alongside the driver release. It also makes it really hard to know if I should even bother messing with the driver update.

Apparently, they forgot to add resolved issues for Windows XP.

Or they've began phasing out XP for Vista and 7?

I installed them last night, no issues noted.

Notice how this time they launched the Linux 9.5s at the same time.

Yeah, most used windows version and they start phasing it out without even an announcement.

Apparently they forgot to change out the number 9.4 for 9.5 as well.

The linked pdf shows the version as Catalyst 9.5.

Thanks for the update. When I clicked through this morning, it was still linking to the 9.4 release notes.

My work machine has a X1300 and I'm running Windows 7. According to the release notes I'm SOL. So that's the policy going forward for users using older GPU's and Windows 7?

That's what NVIDIA did to Nforce3 users when vista came around...

Well X1300 is ancient, so it's understandable.

No. Legacy to R500 are supported in quarterly releases now, not monthly. This is what the competition has been doing for ages.

i can confirm that Cat 9-5 is great for 4890 but not so great for 4870
- FryCry2 and especially CS take a DUMP in frame rates with Cat 9-5 with 4870 and they are both better with 4890

go configure

That is very strange. Are you sure 4870 looses performance with this cat?

in *two* of my benchmark games

Stalker Clear Sky give improvement with Cat 9-5 with 4890 but absolutely tanks with 4870
- this happens to a lesser extent with FC2

i am using 4890/1gb vs 4870/1gb so there are not any vRAM issues

my other games [and i am not done testing] show "normal" changes

EDIT:: Add WiC to that list of 4870 games that runs worse on 9-5

otoh, if you have 4890 - Rejoice!

For Clear Sky, FC & WiC, sure
- why don't you run them and compare - if you have these games; i am reporting my issues with these drivers - and it is in line with TweakTown's results

i am loving Cat 9-5 on 4890

What is the consensus for HD 4850 owners, back to 9.4 whilst we await 9.6 and hope that AMD remembers that we paid them money?

I don't have those games installed, but if Cat 9.5 brought a performance drop in some games, I'm thinking that it might be something wrong with them and probably some other titles can be affected. It's safer on 9.4.

If this is confirmed, and I see little reason to doubt Tweaktown or apoppin, I would like to know what the hell the AMD technicians were testing these drivers on prior to release - solitaire?

Can someone compare AF quality of 9.4 vs 9.5? I installed 9.5 and it feels like performance is slightly down (like 2~3 FPS out of 50~60) but texture quality looks better to me. Maybe I'm seeing things?

Hope someone will advise me if I should use the CD that came with my Gigabyte GV-R435OC-512I Radeon HD 4350 512MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 card that has an ATI Driver or should I use an updated ATI Driver from Gigabyte or an updated driver from ATI? ATI is 9.5 and Gigabyte is 8.5. I don't have any games. I just want to connect an HDMI TV/Monitor with an LCD DVI Monitor. Thanks for any help.

The newer driver from the website.

Also, to the people who posted earlier about some grammar mistake in the 9.5 pdf file I linked. That pdf file was a "rough-draft" which has not been looked over fully for errors, which is why it was not posted on the ATI website. It included most of the changes and stuff though.

it happens. i know for a fact they are working overtime getting the Stream stuff done and also aren't they working on Linux? Win7 is around the corner and they are writing drivers for Vista to include 7. They are doing much more on a monthly schedule than ever before [with a smaller crew, it appears; soon there will be Summer Vacations for some of the team].

i would say they are very Human; and overworked - if it were MY company, i'd have taken the pressure off and released the 9-5s later
[good thing in am not in charge ]

- and expect [my guess] a couple of hotfixes for the few lapses.

should I use an updated ATI Driver from Gigabyte or an updated driver from ATI?
Agreed with the poster above - always choose the latest driver [unless there are known issues with it, of course]

Can someone compare AF quality of 9.4 vs 9.5?
Sure, PM BFG10K and ask nicely
- he'll tell you [for a fact] nVidia's are better

Well looks like Quake 4 framerate is down by a few for me @ 1920x1200. WTH? AMD's monthly update is becoming more and more like a gamble if your games is more than 1.5-2 years old.
