The ignorance in this thread is astounding, it has caused me lose hope in society.

The Catholic Church was established by Jesus. Read the bible.

Matthew 16:16-19.

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 And Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal [this] to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it. 19 "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." (NASB).

I'm fvcking Jewish and even I know this.

WRAONG!

Roman Catholics believe in the Holy Trinity. Father(God), Son(Jesus) and Holy Ghost(Holy Spirit).

Peter(one of the 12 Diciples) was the first one to actively preach the teachings of Jesus. Jesus did NOT found the R.C. faith, he is one of the cornerstones of it.

Yea, he is a historical figure and there is plenty of evidence of his existence. That does not mean that he was the fully divine, fully human being that Christians believe in, but you have to be an idiot to not believe he existed.

How can you say Christ founded the Catholic Church when none exist during his life time?

Where did you hear this from, or did you make it up? I just graduated Valedictorian of 525 kids from a Catholic high school yesterday.

I think the best source of Catholic teaching would be the Catholic Church. He claimed the teaching were contrary to what they are.

I was simply stating a FACT ABOUT CATHOLIC TEACHING, NOT ABOUT CORRECT BELIEF.

I am not sure the folks who say Catholics are not Christian are interested in seriously looking at the issue.
Typically part of the problems stems from them holding the idea that Scripture, rather than the Church, is the final Authority on earth.
Even the Bible says that the Church is the pillar of all truth.

Um, no. If fact, IIRC, the first Roman mention of Jesus mentions his followers some two generations after the fact.

many protestants still hate catholics, that is the bottom line

i was watching battlefield britain last night on the history channel and they covered the battle of Boyne during the Jacobite war. james was the last catholic king of england i guess. they didn't get into the religious part that much , but apparently the whole war was basically protestants vs. catholics

so the protestants that hate the catholics want to persucute them so they redefine "christian" to try and exclude catholics (and others who believe christ is the savior) from christianity

after the other thread, i started reading some stuff about the RC church and WWII/nazis
one source said the pope Pius XI was fixin to condemn the nazis but he died and the new pope Pius XII decided to keep his mouth shut and ignore the death camps

but i still think catholics are christian despite that (if its true)
