Seriously, if someone told me what I could and could not do on my own time, in my own home, that violated NO laws, I'd break every bone in their pitiful worthless bodies. Someone needs to find these assholes and just f'ing kill them, I'm sick of them.
the ignorance of some people never fails to amaze me.

there is a choice to go to a Catholic school. you don't like what they require of you - you don't go.

could you get with the program on that?

No, in fact, I can't. This is America BEFORE it's catholic school. EVERYONE and EVERYTHING in America MUST abide the constitution and the protections and freedoms enumerated therein.

Asshole fascist sons-a-bitches like that sorry principal have NO RIGHT to enjoy the quality of life in this country while selectively choosing which of its principles to ignore. HE should be the one expelled...from this nation.

I'm sick of it. Sick of Bushco, sick of PNAC, sick of neocons, sick of fundamentalists/evangelicals and other ignorant zealots. I'm done with it. Next sorry mother-f'er that espouses that kind of tripe to my face will be beaten so badly his great-grandchildren will be born crippled.

No joke, I'm SERIOUSLY considering leaving school just to fly out there and dedicate my life to ruining his.

So that principal got under your skin a bit?

Just a bit. Seriously, it's the cumulative effect of everyone like him. A person can only take so much. He's just the rotten freaking cherry on the current political/social pie.

Is it a stupid idea? To me, yeah. But no one is forcing me to put my kids in that school, so WTF do I or any of you care? How can you loons cry about "loss of freedom" and "usurping the Constitution" when we are talking about a private institution's stated rules and regulations regarding the behaviors of its voluntary members?

If my daughter ever cursed me, I'd punish her. If she disrespected a teacher at her school, they'd punish her. Are we 'freedom-hating Nazis' who are 'out of line' with the Constitution behind the walls of Home/School?

So what if a 'private institution' went back to hitting kids with rulers? It may be illegal outside of the school, but nobody's forcing anyone to go to that school so they should just leave. Right?

You could just pick a student's name at random to use. Apparantly it is okay for the students names and pictures to appear on the school's own website.

We could make stupid and meaningless analogies all day. Here's a few more:

- I can legally smoke cigarettes if I want, but not in my office. OMG! My freedoms are being eroded and undermined by private institutions!

- I can legally purchase and consume alcohol, but not in the middle of my local movie theater. OMG! My freedoms are being eroded and undermined by private institutions!

- I have the right to bear arms as granted by the 2nd amendment, but I can't wave my shotgun around at a nearby day-care center. OMG! My freedoms are being eroded and undermined by private institutions!

Now, do those do anything to address or further discuss the issue at hand? Of course not. The issue at hand is a private school having rules that dictate what its voluntary members can and cannot do. There is no physical abuse involved, so why make that comparison?

are you catholic?
why do you ask?

Just wondering, cause you might have more direct experience as to why these schools are in general more sheltering (and IMO, skirting around responsibility) than public schools or non-denominational private schools. Is it just part of Catholicism?
i can't say you'd value my opinion if i said i was as you've already called Catholic school students out as being naive.

I think most Catholic students are. There are obviously some that are not (I will count you as part of the latter). Do you think this policy is OK, or does it avoid teaching responsibility?

I attended a Catholic highschool. If anything, the teachers had more freedom in the classroom than the public school teachers. I'll pick a nice safe topic as an example: abortion. Because the Catholic moral teachings on abortion are clear and were well understood by the students, teachers were free to discuss the practical, biological issues concerning abortion without fear of pissing off parents or freaking out school administrators. Ditto for sex ed. Teachers felt much freer to discuss the moral implications of various subjects than in public schools.

No, I am free. Chains and bonds come in more varieties then metal.

Especially the self-imposed ones.
yeh, i maintain you are dillusional, and suffering from angry man syndrome with a good dose of anti-Christianity.

here's a tidbit for your closed mind: most Catholics are happy being Catholics or they wouldn't be. i don't see any chains holding them there.

Let me ask you this, do you beileve the pastors are happy being not able to marry those they love? What are your thoughts relating to a pastor marrying a women? Or a women becoming a pastor?
i have never asked a priest his feelings on this matter, but they do become priests of their own free will and realize celibacy is a condition of such.

i feel that eventually there will be women priests.

You previously said catholics are happy or they wouldn't be. Cleary, this isn't the case there are plenty of unhappy catholics, lutherans, jews, muslims, atheists...

This one kind of applies here. A Catholic school banning blogging is akin to your employer saying that you can't smoke at home.
