My school I go to is throwing out a nice computer monitor. It is a 21 inch model. Dont remember what the brand name was. They are throwing it out because it has some water damage and it is not working.

I just want to know if it can be fixed. I would be getting a nice monitor for free.

Grab it anyway, if it can't be fixed you can throw a rock at it and watch it implode.

Don't bother. I used to work with a guy who repaired monitors. It didn't look like fun, and even after getting them working, the monitors never looked that great and usually failed again soon. He loved tinkering on them, but he admitted that once they went bad they were never good again.

You have to give us a bit more then "water damage" to go on. Does it power on at all? Does it do the infamous click-click-click? Does it display off centre? Is one of the colours not showing? Does it only display a small pin hole in the centre of the tube? etc etc etc

Since we are on the topic of repairing monitors, I need some help. My dad's monitor is going whack. Every so often it would change colors to a greenish blue on screen and when we press on it or touch it, it would change back for a while, then go bad again. Anybody know what'd wrong with it? It would be a shame to throw it out if it could be fixed.

sounds like the cord is bad - the wire or connector for red is coming loose. if you can swap the cord, do it, otherwise find a position that makes it happy and somehow keep it in that position (duck tape? zip ties?)
