That pic is enough for me to pull my 5870 out and list it on eBay. My spare cards (a GT240 and a HD3850) should do until it's out.

rumors say it will be january before 6870 is out, do you really want to use a 3850 for potentially 4+ months?

If more details/pics surface over the next couple weeks, I say sooner. Black Friday hard launch with worldwide availbility. It's 40nm, they've had months and months of comfortable development time, me thinks holidays.

Sure looks that way....apparently NVDA think so too....
http://vr-zone.com/articles/nvidia-geforce-gtx-460-prices-cut/9760.html
Sounds like a panic move to me.:whiste:

Some of the rumors out of chiphell point to ATI positioning the 6770 against the GTX 460.

This could be why this is the first card they are releasing.

Rough news for nvidia if so, the one card they have that is compelling as a purchase for a broad spectrum of buyers and ATI is about to launch a 2nd generation DX11 part against it.

With 6870 coming down the pipe and 6970 soon after, ATI may maintain the performance lead for the second year running now.

Looks like it might be the last ATI cards?

Or just a fake picture, I thought AMD said ATI was done starting with the new batch of cards.

I think Chiphell did this last round, putting out a lot of fake news to generate page hits.

Thanks for the links/pics. Interesting that we have supposed 6870 shots, tough to say when it will come out now. I'd like to see the 6870 out first as that's what I'd be buying. Also, if that HD6300 comes with 128-bit RAM, wow, AMD isn't screwing around on the low end. Looks like they really are planning on mopping up with Fusion.

They really do have you guys running full damage control, don't they? By all indications, you and Happy are gonna be hopping like mad over the next year.

At least the card in the picture looks far more real than the woodscrew Fermi card

For some, they just can't be happy about groundbreaking new performance.

It was the same story last September when the 5XXX series launched and set the bar, some folks couldn't just enjoy the new technology because it was not green, and I don't mean energy efficient.

Here we are a September later and again ATI is setting the bar, again being first to table with second generation DX11 technology as they were with first gen. And the same usual suspects can't appreciate it.

ATI continues to further their domination of the DX11 market and deliver the best performance available on the market to the consumer.

Bring it on!

The new batch of AMD cards will toss out the ATI name brand. It should say AMD. So this chip is not their new batch of chips. I think with 6xxx they should start name brand only as AMD. It should say AMD on the cooling fan. I remember they said when this would take effect, and it might not be until next year maybe looks like. After looking at the pic of cayman. Thank and gl

The performance of current cards is fine, what's needed is new features. Bringing something new to gaming. Judging by the steam survey most people game at 1080p or less. So going from 60fps to 70fps won't mean anything.

You have a point there tweakboy, AMD said they would be dropping ATi name with the launch of 6XXX series of cards, and yet there is an ATi logo on the cooler.. makes me think..

It looks to me like the card was installed on a test bed as I can see the PCI-E coming out of the top, but they are cut by the cropping.

Awww cute, nvidia have you running damage control on the forums again?

I for one am excited about price drops...I have one gtx470 and can't wait to add a second one when I can pick one up for under $200.

So far almost all pics that came out of chiphell have been pretty close to what the cards look like. Take a look.

4870x2

the cooler is a bit different, but the length is about the same.

The were all pre-release picture. I could go further back to the 3870x2 and 2900XT, but you get my point.

Chiphell has been consistent for awhile. Wish I could understand cantonese or mandarin ? I'm not sure which, but google translate gives a less than stellar translation at times.

They keep calling the upcoming 6970 'soy sauce' per google translate ?

It's not surprising they get so many pre-release pics as they are so near to the manufacturing location of these cards.

These cards can't come soon enough. We've been at the same performance level since 5870 release a year ago. Nvidia only really brought performance parity with the 4XX release five months ago.

We need the new league of performance these cards will bring to DX11 titles and future games.

More performance is ALWAYS good whereas only a handful people use 3dvision/physx/eyefinity. If you already have a min 60 fps you can always crank up the AA/AF.

If we had more performance more games like crysis would be possible.
