Well when I go to this site:

https://blog.taxact.com/tax-cut-jobs-act-calculator/

And I run Cindy at 30k and 1 kid it says she's gonna owe $258 more under the new house plan.

Paul Ryan, please show your math!

Estimated Taxes

Gross Income: $30,000
Deduction: $12,000
Taxable Income: $18,000
Tax Reform Estimated Taxes: $260
Current Tax Estimated Taxes: $2
Difference: $258

Plugging in my and my wife's numbers we will lose $658 from last year. I owned my own home outright for the last 10+ years. We decided we wanted to upgrade and take on a mortgage last year. Losing my mortgage interest and property tax deduction alone more than 86's the bullshit 2x Standard Deduction shell game "increase". Ah shit...

Will make out ok even in a blue state. https://imgur.com/a/fydDD Get to 316 after maxing both our 401ks and deffered comp.

Most people who post on these forums are going to be better off with the new plan. People like me who don't make that kind of money are going to take a pretty big hit. Especially on our homes. I never would have bought a home at my age had I known I was going to lose the ability to write off my mortgage interest and property taxes. My youngest just turned 19 this year, too. I'm actually going to take a bigger hit than I had thought. $1658

Using the tax calculator, my wife and I would owe $845 less than under current tax laws.

These guys are freaking clueless. Have no idea how people live in this country.
They do understand how people vote though. The Reps gave me $700! The Dems didn't get me $700. The program cuts the Reps are getting ready to serve up are lost on people. Those cuts will be blamed on the workers at the local level who have to tell folks they can't have the services they rely on, damn government.

Good tweets by David Klion.

"I want Senate Democrats to pledge that when they regain power, they will pass universal social programs into law with the same radical disregard for norms as the current GOP"

"And I want a confiscatory tax regime. I want the state to be reclaiming what its about to lose and then much more. I want the .1% bled dry"

"The rich are parasites and hoarders and this is how we need to start talking about them. As enemies of the state. As thieves. We need them to be embarrassed and frightened."

The problem is that he fails to realize that the Democrats as a party represent largely the same constituency as Republicans - donors. Just not as extreme. But they will never do this.

Huh, looks like Jeff Flake inserted an amendment that kills the $7500 electric vehicle rebate. Hope nobody in here has a Tesla preorder.

Flake remembers the alt fuel vehicle rebate fiasco in Arizona. The Reps passed a law so poorly written that folks could and did buy golf carts and get the state to pay for them. Diesel trucks were another big hit. It damn near bankrupted the state.

Quite frankly, people buying Teslas don't need rebates.

It's going to phase down anyway once the automakers hit their thresholds. In realm of unintended consequences this could push some states into more aggressive EV mandates, especially CA which is already considering it.

I'm in the middle class and this will definitely be a tax increase. Not all over 100K benefit from this for sure. My deductions last year were above 24k this standard deduction will provide but will definitely lower my deductions below 24k. So I'll lose whatever the difference looks to be and the 3% cut won't make up for that.

Love the double taxation too, taxing my state taxes is very classy.

Folks, for the love of god, quit calling yourself the middle class... At least get a clue of what the middle class is. Here is a quick calculation: If you are married and are itemizing on your tax return... you're not in the middle class.

The average household income is roughly ~$50-65k (depending on where you pull the number) - and that is by HOUSEHOLD, not person. So if you're pulling in $100k+, you're safely in the privileged upper-middle class, and getting very close to the top 10%.

This has been a public service announcement for liberals to check their privilege instead of playing the victim when they have no idea of what it's actually like to be a victim.

People that will hurt the most are:
1) Single people that live in a home
2) People in HCOL areas (Major Cities in NY, CA, WA, etc..)

I'm sure all the rich democrats (Hollywood) are just mad and angry right now with their fists clenched. That is why they will be revolting against their tax savings by giving extra money to Uncle Sam when this takes affect.

Right?

What a bullshit argument. They'll pay what they're asked to pay & not whine about it.

Yes, yes- give us the old "they're just as bad" routine. If you say it often enough you might even believe it.

The only problem I see with democrats at the moment is they simply don't have the balls. They really need to grow a pair. Imagine shady Republican methods with Democratic ideals.

It shifts the tax burden down the scale, away from the financial elite & onto the rest of us. But it'll all trickle down, right?

From a political perspective these aren't all liberals. Lots of upper middle class suburban Republicans are going to get hosed.

Precisely why I didn't mention political means... Rich people of all fabrics love their coastal living with mansions.

They're part of the donor class I was referring to, they're a big part of the reason the Democratic party will not do was Klion suggested.

I have no idea what this is even supposed to mean.

That's ignorant. Dems don't have the numbers in Congress to do much of anything.

They can still use rhetoric and rock the boat. That reminds me, Chuckie has been more subdued lately....

Like that hasn't been happening.

That's bullshit. Dems will need to take Congress & the Presidency to do that. Throwing shade on them won't help that happen. Quite the opposite. It plays to the Poor Bernie! crowd to keep them out of the voting booth.
