Bullshit? I think not.

Obama proposes lowering corporate tax rate to 28 percent
https://www.washingtonpost.com/busi.../gIQA1sjdSR_story.html?utm_term=.dbe173cd3f69

From that article...
The plan would lower the nation’s corporate tax rate to 28 percent. At the same time, Obama wants to boost overall revenue from corporate taxation by banning numerous deductions and loopholes that save companies tens of billions of dollars a year on their tax bills.

To Anyone: Were any of the loopholes or deductions taken away in this giant lowering of corporate taxes bill?

By the way, I wouldn't mind lowering the rate as long as most loopholes and deductions were removed. Creates too much disadvantage from one company to another. How can my employers small business pay a much higher rate than GE (0% at times) because of all of these loopholes and deductions? Lower the tax and remove the loopholes to make it a flatter, more even tax across profit for corporations.

Those 35 and 39.4% numbers are thrown around and we have the highest corporate rates in the world...yada..yada...but in reality, our effective rate is much, much lower. Of course, with the deductions and loopholes, some pay 0% and some pay 39.4%. That's an issue.

Obama's plan would have ended a lot of business deductions and exemptions thereby raising the effective rate even if the statutory rate was lower.

Sounds exactly what the GOP is wanting to do to individuals. Lower rates and remove deductions (some will pay more).

So what? Part of that proposal was eliminating a lot of the ways to game the system.

Now officials are counting on corporate tax reform to make a modest but still significant contribution to deficit reduction. And Obama has become more assertive in his push to raise taxes to help keep spending and revenues in check.

It was actually a proposal to raise the effective rate paid by corporations. I f you think that's part of the Repub plan you're truly delusional.

Bullshit. It provided affordable coverage to 20M Americans who wouldn't have had it otherwise & would provide the same to millions more had the Medicaid expansion been universal.

My deleted comment wasnt bullshit. Alternatively, both of our statements are true.

Lowering the corporate rate is fine. The issue is lowering without a corresponding adjustment in individual rates to account for the inequitable results from lowering corporate rates (i.e., massively favors the wealthy).

Hell we could get rid of them if people were willing to stomach the jump in individual rates that would be required, but I don’t think that’s politically tenable.

Why is reducing spending never an option?

I love how as conservatives they aren't ever talking about being conservative with money in government as a topic of discussion anymore. Apparently that went down the drain.

In an ideal world, we could take the collective (non-retarded, non-politically correct) brains from the left and the same from the right and form our own party.... But it would probably be too small to accomplish anything.

I didn’t say it isn’t. I’m not making an argument for or against reducing revenue.

My only point is that you can shuffle around taxes to achieve whatever outcome you want and that it’s the outcome that’s important.

But we're not curtailing spending at this point, just increasing stimulus and to be honest, we'll see how much of that stimulus trickles down. We're adding debt by cutting taxes, not cutting spending.

I want my $4,000 household income increase (my boss laughed his ass off when I told him that).

Your boss laughs at a $4,000 raise? Shit man, you really do need a new job if that is considered out of whack.

The corporate rate needed to the reduced...even Obama admitted that 35% was a problem. However, I do think 20% is too low.

The tax rate isn't the issue - it's how the taxable amount is calculated. You could make the tax rate 200%, the majority of large corporations that use transfer pricing to foreign entities (Apple, for example) still won't be paying.

And with that I agree 100%. I just wish either party was as fired up about reducing spending as they are about cutting taxes. One without the other is foolish.

Property tax deduction is back in. Guess it will be a tax cut for me after all -- might as well loot the treasury along with everyone else while I can (making ATOT minimum wage or more)

Small company struggling right now. Enough benefits to keep me where I'm at for now. The point was that he won't be getting this huge tax cut to pay for a $4,000 raise.

I have considered leaving because of lack of pay raises though.

Why? Tax cuts pay for themselves....the Laugher Curve (as tax rates approach zero, revenue approaches infinity). As long as they don't touch my SS/Medicare.......

I'm in the middle class and this will definitely be a tax increase. Not all over 100K benefit from this for sure. My deductions last year were above 24k this standard deduction will provide but will definitely lower my deductions below 24k. So I'll lose whatever the difference looks to be and the 3% cut won't make up for that.

Love the double taxation too, taxing my state taxes is very classy.

You must live in some hoity-toity libtard state where they have fancy coffee shops and medical weed. Serves you right, next time move out to the boonies and work in the coal mines or the oil fields like real 'muricans and you won't suffer so much.
