CC: 9800 NP for $199 NO MIR! Now with Picture of the Ad!

I got a 9800np from CC a week ago for $199 that came with Infineon RAM. ATI has the "Trade In" program that features a 9800 Pro for $249. Would I be better off returning this 9800np back to CC and getting a 9800 Pro from ATI for $249? Is the performance boost from a non-pro to pro worth the $50?

I have the same 9800np from CC and flashed the Bios as per numerous OC_threads and the Infineon ram doesn't cut it!
I'm thinking the same thing. ATI's trade-in(package?)read site and who knows what thet mean?
I might return to CC and pay ATI 249.00 15.00 s/h and it runs 50.00 more w/memory that can OC to XT specs.

My np i got from CC a few weeks ago is going 425/317 with a Zalman VGA cooler. The infineon RAM kind of sucks, but for $200 I am happy.

This deal started on November 30th and probably ended the next saturday. I think most stores sold out in a few days. You can search your local CCs, but I doubt you will find one and if so, they probably arent still $199. Sales dont last forever...

Visited Melbourne, Florida CC tonight to look at the hard drive deals. Spot checked the 9800s. 9800NP was $299 on the shelf, 9800Pro 128mb was $299 after a $100 MIR. Lots of stock on hand. Hey! CC; how about a 9800NP special before XMas. Puh-leeez.

Don't worry... you know these sorta things always get cheaper...
you can get a 9800 Pro for $250 at most places now, no? Meanwhile, I'm gonna milk everything out of my 9500 Pro till there's an absolute need to upgrade. Though the 9600 Pro AIW looks very tempting >_<

Not quite. Still up close to $300. Through trade in deals it is $250.

If anyone had a rain check for the 9800 NP for when it was $199. The Circuit City has 1 and only 1 9800 NP in stock. I had them scan the price and freaking price is $299 so I couldn't get it. So if you had a rain check on it, they have 1 in stock. It's been there for last 3 days now. I didn't have a rain check, so I had no proof it was $199 previously. folks, if you run Windows, there is NO good reason to flash a 9800PRO BIOS onto a 9800 card. A software overclocking tool does the very same as the PRO bios, just not from boot time.
Now if you run a lot of games in Linux (few do), it may make sense to put a PRO bios on if there's no Linux overclocking tool.

There have been rumors that a PRO bios does more than have higher clocks. No! It does not! For higher voltages, one of the alledged improvements, you need hardware changes for which there are soldering mods out there.

Just my advice: Stick to the stock BIOS, use the Rage3D or similar tool for overclocking. You don't miss anything, and above all else, you don't void your warranty. Try sending in a fried card that has a PRO bios on a NON-PRO card, you won't get squat.

$268 for a good brand, free shipping in the US. Much closer to $250 than to $300
