This is a pretty hot deal. Most of these drives turn out to be lite-ons. I have a 52x cendyne that turned into a lite-on.

Just got the last one from CC in San Jose, CA (Evergreen store), it's a Cendyne 40x12x48x, Model LTR-40125S (which I think means it is a Lite-On), $19.95. The manager that rang me up scanned it 4 times because he couldn't belive it. There was a shelf tag marking it for 19.95, so I can't believe it lasted long enough for me to get there.

Thanks for the deal, I needed a cheap CD-RW and didn't care about super speed, so this is a great deal.

It was the last one at this store. I saw the Cendyne 48x for $29.95, but just the tag, they didn't have any in stock (though I didn't ask about more of either in the back).

Snagged one at the Brentwood, TN CC. They had two left. one was LTR-40125s and the other VBT-something. This particular CC kept a lot of their "old" stuff on a couple of shelves underneath the area where they displayed monitors and computers. I would have missed this if I looked only in the regular CDRW display area, so look around!!!
If I remember right the Lite0n 40X drives can be flashed to 48X

Good Hunting.

CC doesn't have this deal at my location, in the Puget Sound area.

They did at mine, 3, in fact.

I picked up two, and the third the checker went and grabbed for himself when he saw the price.

I think I just scored bigtime.

Went to my local CC and found 2 left with no shelf tag. Wandered around and found a 50% off shelf at the front of the store, but nothing really caught my eye there -- some USB2 and combo burners there though. Anyway, I headed to the checkout stand and put the 2 Cendynes on the counter - the guy saw me come from the 50% off rack with the drives and told me that these two were also 50% off. I didn't argue.

So I walked out with 2 drives for $21.64 total! Go me!

I picked up one of these myself today. Cashier checked the price three times before allowing me to buy it.

It's those very expressions which are priceless to me.

This is a really great deal. I already have the Lite-On drive and I love it. I hope the deal works out for everyone!

If I remember right the Lite0n 40X drives can be flashed to 48X

That they can, if they've got the right firmware.

From CDFreaks:

LTR-40125S (f/w ZSxx) -->LTR-48125W, possible, mediatek chipset.

^ I just did this with mine, had the ZS firmware, now it reads and burns as a LTR-48125W.

Ironically, I paid less for the real Cendyne Lightning IV 48x12x48 in the past, when pricematching to OfficeMax.

NO luck in Lou,Ky.

Almost all burner drives were 52X and I did see one Cendyne 40x12x48 USB but the price tag showed $119.00.

Ignore the price on the shelf tag. It will ring up at $19.95 at the register. CC is real bad about not putting up new shelf tags when the price goes down.

EDIT: Nevermind, just saw the "USB" on the 40x.

Yea can anyone confirm what the USB External Cendyne 40x12x48 Burners are ringing up if any discount at all? I really need a Internal so I didnt bother doing a pricecheck on the Cendyne 40x12x48 I seen at CC for 119.00. Guess I should of.

Not tagged on sale 69.99 regular priced
Marked 79.99
Rang up 19.99

Sales person was really suprised

Back has the drive model: LTR-40125S

Remember, just because its not marked on the shelf doesn't mean its not on sale
