Noone else thinks this a good deal? $200 + tax for a brand name 22" LCD w/ a 3 year warranty.

This one has the Samsung TN panel unlike the lottery with the newer 226BW. It has a height adj. stand unlike the newer model as well.

It is almost impossible to find. I got wind of this deal last week at another HD site and I checked the stock in my state, they were all sold out in SE michigan.

A 6bit panel always makes a dithered display, FRC or not. Fact is, the new series is just the result of the cheaper to produce modern TN panels (older panels cost about 30% more). Besides, using fake techs like hiFRC give them much better specs, like 16.7m color display (actually is 16.2m dithered) and the ridiculous 1000:1 contrast ratio (suggests a .3 black point, which it is certainly not capable of -- unlike the .06 on my venerable mitsubishi crt).

Personally, I am boycotting the thought of buying a lcd until they bring back S-PVA, or make a decent IPS monitor that doesn't cost $600.

Awesome deal. I wonder why they're discontinuing it? It's an awesome monitor. Had mine for a few months now.

That may be true but I understood him for the most part and I agree with what he is saying. The thing that really irritates me is when manufacturers come out with a new monitor, with a decent panel in it, and then after reviews and a bit of time passes they switch to an inferior panel.

Either way this seems like a pretty good deal for a 22" TN panel.

Dang, I paid about $50 or so after tax for this about a month ago, then had a fiasco about the A vs. S-panel...

The dithering wasn't bad on this S - rather, it's hardly noticeable - but on my A, it was AWFUL. I've only found two or three others out of a 90-page thread over on the Hardforums that experienced the noisy dithering issue.

I like everything else about it, though. I had a Gateway 21" S-PVA at one point, but the center of the screen was darker than the outsides. Which was odd, and made it weird to read certain things and play some games. Yay for open box - return for a full refund.

I'd like an S-IPS, though. I was looking at the NEC 20WMGX2 (or whatever order those letters come in), but the cost was/is so prohibitive.

You guys are soooo going to hate me for this, but here goes:

After I posted yesterday, I got determined to get that LCD no matter what. So I picked up the phone and called the closest Circuit City store. I got a nice guy on the phone from Computer Hardware, I asked him if he had the 225BW in stock (now keep in mind that earlier I had already checked online and it shows no store within a 100 miles region has the LCD in stock), he said no but that he has the 226BW, I told him that I want that 225BW and not interested in any other monitor, he told me again he doesn't have it in stock, I asked him if he can do me a favor and check on the Circuit City system for any 225BW in stock within a 50 mile range from me, and for a while he couldn't find anything on the system, until he said, well, guess what there is a circuit city 24 miles away from you that has 1 and only 1 in stock!

Well I am pretty sure you guys can guess the rest, at work I printed the coupon that the OP was talking about on a fancy LaserJet printer, printed both front and back so it looks like it was cut from the real thing too I also made sure the LaserJet glosses the paper so it looks like it came straight of the real coupon ad that Circuit City has, at lunch break at work I took off, pedal to the metal on the highway, after 25 minutes I got there, went into the store, rushed to the LCD section, only to be shocked by the price tag, it's 269.99 WTFBBQ!!

I thought it was 239.99 OP? That is $30 more than what I was planning on paying, but since I drove all the way there I said what the hell I got it, I tried to bargain with the salesman, he cited prices from CompUSA, BestBuy and half a dozen places that have it at much much more and that he can't give me a deal on this one, so I conceded to the regular price, I proceeded to handing him the coupon, he looked at it and I could see that he had no doubt that it was original, even though he was having problems scanning it the first 2-3 times, it did go through, I got my discount and walked out with a spanking new Samsung LCD

Even though it was $30 than the OP mentioned, and most probably that's due to a sale that is long gone since last month, I ended up paying $229.99 which is ~ $244 after sales taxes, still I got this LCD like $ 30 cheaper than it would have cost it me at Newegg.com after a rebate deal and all.

Overall thanks OP this was a good bargain, too bad I wont have time to test it until next week, but it has a 14 day return policy and a 3 year manfacturer warranty so I am not concerened ATM.

Good Luck to you all, and make sure to get a salesman to check the Circuit City system for ya before you lose hope.

We just got one of these in the office. It's analog performance was crummy. Lot's of ghosting. The VGA cable we're using has an extention which makes it less than ideal but things worked pretty well with this setup on our old monitor. Even at low resolutions there is a lot of ghosting. Anyway, this may not be a big deal for people since I expect most people will use this with a dvi cable but if you are using it with a laptop with only vga out, be aware of this problem.

You can't use a VGA extension cable and complain about ghosting, man.

As Adam Savage would say, "well THERE's your problem!"

I printed out that coupon, called CC in advance and there was no stk. I drove to the store, looked at the LG 22WS at $379, sale on for $339, gave them the coupon for $40 more off and left with the LCD for $299. This is a good buy IMO
