well that was why I didn't get specific on anything.

I wasn't looking for how to prep though...I can do the sims no problem and equipment...it's figuring out what they were really asking on that question.

I plan on submitting a review to cisco though...I just passed today.

I'm happy with the sims on tests. They test "do you really understand the concepts?"

They're trying to make the ccnp/ccdp worth something again and doing a pretty decent job at it. I've mentored many people through these tests (helping them out in the lab, making them think and understand what they are doing, etc).

You can't teach layer2 and routing protocols without seeing them in action and understanding how they work. OSI model - learn it, live it, love it.

I didn't have a problem with sims. I had a problem with the sim they gave and how the question was worded. Obviously I cannot be specific.

My brother is a CCIE btw and an editor for Cisco Press. I know what's behind the testing.

I also know what is behind the testing, it's testing if you understand the concepts and put real world knowledge to task.

If I give you the output of 5 different devices you should be able to tell me exactly what is going on, why and how - and most likely you have seen it before. If you have a problem with the sim then you don't really understand what is going on.

WHERE DID I SAY IT WASN'T?

Why do people insist on taking one issue here and projecting it or bringing up some side issue to tout themselves?

There was a bad question I encountered, not because of of what it wanted me to do or the concepts it expected me to know; but because of it's wording. More than likely I was expecting it required more work than it really needed, but again with the poor wording and only access to limited 'show' commands it made it more a guessing game. I don't agree with Cisco's decision to limit the command set you have access too. If there is something they are looking for only a specific command to be used, then they should ask a question which requires it.

I PASSED THE TEST, it's not like I have failed and said "it was too hard".
