I'm looking for a cd changer, a box that you load cd's in and when you need cd x it mounts it . Found nothing using google. Is such a thing even made?

nope
cdroms must fit into the 5.25 formfactor, and no cd changer would do that.
you could put a bunch of cd-rom drives in your system and load cds in there

They used to make 3 or 4 cd loaders in the mid-nineties but I guess they never took off;haven't heard of any recently.

A lot of people like to assume things are true without actually doing any research themselves  Imation does one called a Disc Stakka. That link is to a New Zealand website, but I guess it would be available world wide.

Thats the ticket Dr X. I'm going to guess that seek times when going from 1 cd to another really suck, but have to be better than the seek time of me finding the damn things scatered all over my office.

There are also external enclosures that will house various numbers of drives.

My wife had a 4 disk, 6X changer (NEC) for years that just recently died. She used it mostly to load multiple disks with graphics and clipart while working on projects. Since it's failure, I have loaded stacks of clipart cds onto just a handful of DVDs for her.

I've had an internal NEC CD changer for such a long time, I think it's still just a 4-speed. It's so old, that Nero and Easy CD don't know enough about it to run a CD copy from it to burn onto another CD burner! (Or maybe they time out and don't tell me it's that, but both expect faster source drives?) What the heck, I make copies on another PC, usually, anyway.

NEC stopped making them some while back (or stopped relabelling someone else's).

you might be better off ripping the images to your hard drive then using alcohol 120 or daemon to mount them all. you can have dozens of cdrom drives all with whatever cd your program needs.

I am of the image/mount camp too. It's basically free since i already have the HD space and disc drive / software too and isn't another piece of hardware to clutter my desk.

Might want to do a bit more research yourself. That's just an optical disc organizer that connects to your PC, it won't actually read any discs. You still need an optical drive in your computer to read the disc you are looking for.

Back about 1995 or so, I used to have a Nec CD changer that would hold 7 CDs. It was OK - but each CD became a separate virtual drive, and thast got a bit complex. The advent of large HDDs put that notion out of business. Now it is easier and faster just to copy the CDs onto a hard drive.
