CD/DVD rom problems

im not sure what im doing wrong but...

my first computer i've gotten i had a tobisha cdrom drive that lasted me 3 years,

now after that, i think i've gone through a new drive every 6 months, from cdroms to cdrws and just today my dvdrw busted. anyone know why this is happening?

it used to be that it would sometimes read some media and not others(just really unstable), but now by busted i mean that it just doesn't read any media at all

could this be an effect of me constantly swapping hds in and out of my computer every week or so? i guess the movements could have made something loose

Do you smoke? Are your lights always flickering? Do you spend hours every day ripping and burning "stuff"?

If not,

Are you diiping your CDs in pumice before inseerting them in the drive? Living in an ammonia factory? Meth house? Have your cats learned to press the drive tray button over and over to play with it?

dont smoke, the light isn't usually flickering but i have been swapping out dvds a lot. i dont rip that much, in maybe a month or two i've ripped 20 dvds
