CD RECORDING PROBLEMS

I Have an old NEC 2X2X24 CDRW Drive. The problem is whenever I burn a disc, it does something strange.
Whever I try to write to a disc, it goes through the process perfectly. The problem is that after it completes, it basically did not write to the disc. Its almost like the write command does the same thing as the test/simulation command.

I used:
Adaptec EZ CD Creator 3.5b
Nero Burning ROM
CDRWin 3.8a

and all go through the write process perfectly but does not physically write to the media.


Anyone have any ideas?
Should I try to update the bios on the drive? If so, where are the updates online?

arent the read laser and write laser the same?

No, to the best of my knowledge, the read and write lasers are different.
