No you don't. It is the absolute worste place there is to shop. In my experiences, they have an amazingly high rate of defective merchandise. THey have no problem shrink rapping it back up and putting a tiny sticker on it that says so. Many of their ads are for repackaged goods, not brand new, never bought items. I even bought a case from them (an expensive coolermaster atc-201) only to find it was a different case inside. When I took it back the next day, very dissappointed that I couldn't build my new machine, they treated me like a crook, as if I had been the one who changed the case.

I just often see people wish they had a Fry's. It usually takes me about 6 months in between visits there to forget about my last horrible experience with them and give them another try.

This is my experience with their Torrance, CA store, closest to West Los Angeles.

I shop at Fry's 1-2 times a week. I've been doing it for 4-5 years. I shop for myself, my work and for family and friends. I just don't buy anything with the blue/returned sticker. Sometimes I have to return things and never have I had a problem. Some of the sales people recognize me because I go in there so often. I have no expectation of service when I go in, I actually like it better that way. No one to bug me when I am browsing. I have built maybe 20-25 computers from parts purchased at Fry's and I can't remember but a couple of items that were ever defective. I've bought TVs, receivers, CD players, boom boxes, etc and either I've had really good luck for 5 years with literally, hundreds of purchases or some people have all the bad luck.

i think he only got like store deals or something. i dont see a few local stores we have either but i guess he got the major one that everyone can use.

Excellent post & timely-I'm in the market for a new burner as the drawer on my old 8x Plextor has banged into the TV stand that holds my mouse one too many times.

I repeat the question about whether the Pacific Digital is a rebadged LiteOn. I've bought two 32x LiteOns for my kids' computers and am very happy with them.
