Anyone used this player? Sounds good, but I've heard negative things about some of them before.

I can only go by my experience, but this player sucks. The one I received from compgeeks was obvisously not "NEW" like the desciprion said. It had been opened, and repackaged. On top of that, the player wouldn't play for more than three seconds without skipping on Mp3's or regular cd's. I returned the player to compgeeks, and it was received by them on October 30th. I still have not been sent a replacement, despite several LONG DISTANCE calls. CompGeeks Service=SUCK

They are a great company assuming everything works right though.

The player is not great by any standards but does it's job with playing mp3's alright. However it's very picky... you have to create your mp3 disc in such a way that you *must* subdivide them into folders. You can't just put all mp3's in the root folder of the disc or it'll just play the first 10 files.

Another is all mp3's must be encoded using the same bitrates and all have must the .mp3 extension or it won't read the entire disc.

The manual is also something that's less to be desired. Good thing there are help groups online that helps explain how to use this piece of... (leaving to your imagination)

bought on of these from easybuy2000.com, they have real good customer service but the player isn't ready for primetime. i went through two of them before i asked for a refund. it would play fine sitting on a desk but as soon as i tried walking anywhere it would just skip and lock up. this happened on both the players i received. also it doesn't display titles just track numbers which makes it a pain when you have 200 songs on a disk. i would pass on this one. maybe the Philips is good.

I have the philips Expanium. In this case I prefer brand name than a no name brand. I am very happy with teh expanium. In fact I am going on a long weekend (3 day - I had thanksgiving with my family) and I am taking 2 cd's with my songs enough for the trip to there and back.

My friend has a NAPA, it feels nice but and its louder (in volume) than the expanium but battery life wise its pretty ok, 6 hrs, I get 10hrs on two batteries.
One nice thing about the napa, it can play VCD's.

So, would you reccommend using my amazon $150 GC towards the expanium? Does it come with a car kit?

There is a better player than the Genica, the Lenoxx MP-786, that is sold for $99+S&H at audioexchange.com (link)

I believe this player uses an upgraded version of the chip on the Genica player. It supports up to 224kbps vs 192kbps on the Genica, has a resume function, comes in a better designed case, and has better directory navigation. Here's a review on dmusic.com. I ordered one from audioexchange a few weeks ago, and it came in quickly but they didn't send a tracking number or respond to emails. It came with ten cdrs and a pair of headphones.

I've sen this thing Rebadged as MPTrip as well, and I believe all these versions are made by AIWA, since it uses an AIWA portable CDplayer technology (E.A.S.S.)

Still, the NomadJukebox seems the MP3 player to get. after buy.com coupon, its $390.

I'd have to say that they took AIWA's CD Players and modified them to allow them to play mp3's.

Cosmetically, they look like the crap Audiophase, GPX, and Coby shell out at discount stores.

TIP for Manufacturers: If you make your product look decent, maybe more people would buy it. Design it to look like garbage, and that's where it will end up.

Question: Doesn't the Nomad Jukebox only transfer songs at 50K/second? That would take a really long time to fill a 6GB Hard Drive.
