CDRW burning problem

I have the Acer 8/4/32 CDRW. I have tried EZCD and Nero. When I burn a 74 mins CD, no matter audio or date, it's fine. 100% success rate. But when I put in a 80mins CD, the failure rate is 100%. Why is that? I have upgraded my CDRW to the newest firmware, and I am using the latest version of EZCD and Nero... Thanks.

I have an Acer 4232 CDRW burner. I have successfully burned 80 minute CDs, but the brand was Acer. I also had a high falure rate with CompUSA CDRs with my burner (my burner just didn't like that brand for some reason, yet I have seen other burners use them all day). Could be your burner dosn't like the brand you tried. Just a thought.

I have the old acer 2-2-6 burner and it burns 80min cd's fine. I am using the adaptic software?

I had the same model Acer 8/4/32 and it burned 80 mins fine. I also noted that Easy 4.0 did far worse than the supplied 3.5 from the manufacturer in all burns. Also if you are running the drive on an ATA66 controller (my experience was with HPT366 on BE6 II) that you will get errors beyond belief, despite the fact that the HPT366 supports Atapi devices. I also used Smart and Friendly Disks.

mastertech01, so you are using the same model of cdrw? you mean you are using ezcd 3.5 instead of 4.0 since it gives you a much higher success rate?

also, i am using i820 chipset, but my cdrw is on the secondary ide slave. would that be a problem?? hmm... maybe the controller is the one killing the CDs...

Rominl, yes the very same drive...have since switched to the Smart and Friendly 12/4/32 which also burns 80 min fine. And yes the Easy 3.5 was far more user friendly and compatible to the 8/4/32 Acer. I also would try Master on the Secondary for the Drive to see if that helps you. Dont have any I820 experience however so cant help with that. Good luck With the 8 MEG buffer on that drive it should burn just fine with the correct configuration.
