CDRW/DVD Combo Drives?

Trying to choose what type of drive to put in my system. I am limited to one 5.25 bay because it is a Shuttle XPC. I was thinking about the Lite On Black 48x24x48x16 CDROM/CDRW/DVD Combo Drive LTC-48161H. Is this a good one to get or do you know a better one to get? I use Clonecd and Alcohol 120%. So it is important that I get a good drive.

you might also check the Samsung drives. They have a 48x and a 52x combo drive. I have one and it has worked flawlessly. Cant speak for the Liteon...supposed to be louder though.

Samsung is a good brand but does not support alot of the burning stuff that Lite On does. That and I can't get to the page for Clonecd's supported drives cuz it is not there right now.

Lite-ON will be the loudest.

The Samsung, Liteon and the LG of the same speed are very close in performance.

The ugly-nes of the samsung, and the loud tradion of the liteon line scared me away from both of those drives. LG is known for quiet drives and the 48x24x48x12 drive is a solid performer.

A question of where your values are placed I guess...

If you're going fast AMD route then don't pick Lite-on.

I have a AXP 2800+ in a SN41G2 and inside the case is extremely hot when closed, got a Lite-on LTC-48161H in it first but the drive keeps on disappearing. Thought I got an defective drive and RMA it but the 2nd one is still does the same. When the drive is cool it works initially, once it's warm then it's gone Then I bought a Samsung 16x48x24x48 unit and it works flawlessly. I know all the goodness of Lite-on but it's just not good for warm environment.

Same unit in SB51G and SB61G2 works fine.

i wouldn't get sony within a year they start screwing up..
Sumsung i recommend.
