CDRW- PRIMARY OR SECONDARY......

What do you guys do and does this make a difference......I've heard so many different reasons why one is better than the other and vice versa.....anyway lmk.

I've set up dozens as slave to the CDROM/DVD and never had a problem.

Depends on what your hardware setup is.
If you just have one harddrive and a CD-ROM and a CD-R/W
Then ...

Primary
Master: HDD
Slave: CD-ROM

Secondary:
Master: CD-R/W

So that you get maximum transfer rates to the CD-R/W no matter where you're going from.

it's recommended to have your regular Cd-rom on a different cable than your CDRW, it reduces the risk of buffer udnerun when making cd copies...

Well thats what I've heard before....everything you guys are saying....but then again other people say that you guys are full of it......is there anyone that can argue that there setup is not the best???

nullshark and supradude are both right.... i just changed from having cd/cdrw on same channel to having the cdrw as secondary master... before i couldn't burn CD to CDRW on the fly and now i can...

I've always been told and this works well with the new CD-RW's and New ATA 66/100 hard drives

You have your Hard Drive as Primary Master
Your CD-RW goes to The Primary Slave

If you have a regular CD-ROM, it goes secondary master

they say that with that setup, the caching runs tremendously quicker, which means it will burn quicker
