I've heard very good reviews on both burners. As a matter of fact, I actually picked up the Sony drive myself and it works great, but I do have a window of 7 days to return it no questions asked still.

Which would you choose if you could get the Sony Suppressa w/ 4mb buffer 12x8x32 for total price $165.00 after rebate OR the Plextor 12x10x32 w/ the burnproof technology for $215.99 total?

plextor, because of the burnproof tech.
but since you already got the sony and you're happy with it, keep it.

I would also have gone with the scsi but as you said, you are happy with your sony so you might as well keep it.

Your Sony will work great for you. Why not keep it and be happy, plus save some money. All the talk about Plextor is for people have money to spare and what the best brand cdrw on the market, which Plextor is. Lots of other people have fine working cd burners that are not Plextor brand.

The Plextor is a great drive, however, I think for the average person the Sony would be just fine!!! I really like my Sony!!

I tried for two hours to crash a burn on the burnproof Plex I install in a g/f's. I could not do it. I did everything but install a program.

plextor w/ burnproof, no doubt about it. i've never coastered one yet.

the guys at storagereview.com were running the UT flyby and couldn't force a buffer underrun, proves how good it is.

My Sony with Nero just does fine...Nero does the same job that Burnproof does, so I don't realy see any difference.

For the price difference of more than $60, keep the Sony SCSI drive. As with the burnproof drive, you won't burn any coasters, and you save a lot of money. The only difference is the RW speed (8x vs 10x), and for most people that really doesn't make a huge difference anyway.

BTW, where the heck did you find the Sony SCSI 12x8x32x for $165??? I wouldn't mind one of those either!
