Ok I know i'm being greedy but it gets to the win98 startup screen and then fails initialising V-cache....

Running a BH6 REV 0 With SS bios and an I will Slocket 2x 64 mb pc 100 & 1 x 32mb pc 66 !

Do You think A MSI Slocket would help or should i just be happy at 850 ?

952 out of a 566 requires a bus speed of 112 MHz. Every single piece of RAM you're using is rated below that. ESPECIALLY that PC66 piece. Yank that one out. I have two PC100 DIMMS in my box right now, each of which runs perfectly at 112 MHz (CAS2, even). Your PC66 is probably what's holding you back. Plus, your CPU might just not make 952.

I second that motion, get rid of the PC-66.... I am surprised youre not getting blue screens (indications of ram problems ex. timing issues).

If possible get rid of the pc-100 and go for the pc-133, true your fsb will not ever reach 133 with a celeron but it would help in your overclocking never the less. Hope this helps.

PS: Greedy Greedy Greedy I want 1020 mhz myself, and bought a guaranteed one at 1004mhz (shipping as we speak)

Guys, I've been only getting one or two at 952 out of about every 35 cpus. What voltage are you running?

If your trying for that speed then all I can suggest is the Alpha Pep66 HS/fan (look at the 14 Jul review -- "Cooler roundup" here at Anand's); Artic Silver or Circuit Works Silver Thermal Compound (Can't emphasize this enough); a really cool (air conditioning) room and case. MS6905 could help (slim chance) and raise voltage to approx. 1.85.
I used this setup and did get 952 twice in 2 tries.

Remember there's no end to what you could spend, the real trick is to be satisfied with accomplishing your goal and get on with life. In my case, my goal was 850 or higher and I would have been satisfied with that. I've resisted "playing" around further, trying to beat everyone else. That gets "Old" quick when you get "Old" like me.

Sometimes it isnt the money spent that really matters, its the thrill of the chase of getting your processor a better speed.

Thats why I overclock, its more fun than expensive.

952 is a different bird. Usually when you have one that's gonna work at that speed with decent air cooling, it doesn't give you much crap. The one I've got running at 1020 right now is just smooth as silk. I've put it thru everything I can throw at it today an can't crash it, or lock it up. I was running it at 1054, but backed it down 4MHz fsb, to keep the temp below 40c. So far just running an Orb.

When I first purchased my Celeron 533A, I could only get it up to 848MHz with a BE6-II motherboard and a Golden Orb CPU fan.

After upgrading my bios to the very latest version, I was able to pep this same chip up to 920MHz ROCK SOLID!

Sometimes its your bios. At least it was in my case. Deffenitly wasn't a cooling problem.

This is what equipment I got now.

Celeron 533A @ 920MHz
Golden ORB CPU Cooler
BE6-II Motherboard (BEHSH Bios)
iWill SlotKeyII Converter
PC100 SDRAM
20.4GB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 7.6ms
Voodoo3 2000 @ 175MHz (143MHz Originally)
Stock Case Fan cooling only

my c2 600 needs 1.9v's to hit 900mhz. it does 927mhz but will sometimes give explorer errors. at 1.85v's it will only do 855mhz.

if u want to see wot it can do, give it some more v's

getting the cusl2 tomorrow to see if the 600 will crack 1000mhz

Dammit all, I might just have to get that MSI slocket eventually just for the heluvit, to see what it can do...

I'm so far satisfied with my Abit Slotket !!!, but with every success story my will-power diminishes another notch.

I just installed a 566 in my BH6 and have it running at 850 (1.6 volts) using the stock fan and heat sink. I tried it at 952 but it wouldn't finish loading windows. I am going to put a Golden Orb on it to see if I can get there. What is the easiest way to get that damn hs/fan clip off? Is there a special tool for it? I tried to get it off the other day but I felt like I was going to break it so I stopped.

Gotta up the voltage. I'd be surprised if you hit 1.6 V 952 with any sort of (air) cooling.

yeah got 2 to hit 932 stabily...

I thought the IWill Slotket 2 were better than MSI ones... can someone rank the top performing slotkets then?

What I heard was:

Iwill 2
Asus s370-D-133
MSI/Abit
Others

Thx,
