Celeron 600 vs Celeron 633...

Can someone please tell me the difference between the two above, other than the obvious clock speed?

I'm looking at buying one of these and would like to know which is preferable for overclocking. The reference for both of these at Onvia lists them as PGA, but I can't tell if that's FC-PGA or PPGA.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

ALL Celeron IIs past 533Mhz are FC-PGA. Only difference between the 600 and the 633 is the clock bin. The 633 has a sky-high 9.5X multiplier. It is a far stretch to expect that chip to run at 950Mhz. You really want to get a chip that can run reliably at 100Mhz FSB or higher. The difference in memory bandwidth from 66Mhz -> 100Mhz will help more than 50Mhz clock increases. Even the 9X multiplier of the 600 will bring it to 900Mhz at the 100Mhz FSB. I think this is not a very assured overclock either. The higher speed with their huge multiplier just aren't the best overclocking chips. I'd go with a 533 or 566 and take that to the 100Mhz FSB. Better yet, spend a little more dough and get a PIII E and overclock it to 133Mhz FSB if your RAM and video card can handle it.

My celeron 633 runs stable all day at 950mhz with a temp of 28 degrees. It will even do 998mhz but after about 1 hour it will lock up, so I am content to run at 950!!!

I've been hearing that the 633 Mhz celerons are running 100mhz pretty easy. Anyone here that isn't able to??

I've got two running at 950, though a friend got one (all three from buycom, exact same chips) and he freezes at the splash screen. I had to put an old Alpha on one of them, stock HS/F on the other. Chances of 950 are actually very good from what I've seen on the forums.
