Celeron G530 temps?

Hey guys, I finished building the mini itx computer which was horrible as far as cable management goes.... my temps are hitting around 57*C under load, max 61*C. Is this normal for a mini itx computer? I don't have my dedicated GPU installed yet, so could this increase the cpu temp? Thanks in advance!

The dedicated GPU shouldn't increase temperatures, unless it blocks case airflow or something. 57ºC under full load is fine. I'm assuming you are using the stock miniature heatsink?

I meant that I have no discrete GPU right now, so the processor is handling the tasks it would/will be doing once it is in. I imagine that means the CPU is working harder ---> higher temps? Hopefully that makes sense Regardless, glad to know I have nothing to worry about, thanks guys! Things sure are cramped in the case.

Yeah that's quite normal for a SB under those circumstances.

I'm seeing temps of 80 to 90 C when I download Windows Updates. The CPU is pegged at 80 to 100% during this time.

But it still seems to work. I have been updating my copy of Windows 7 with SP1 and other updates from a couple of hours, and the temps don't seem to cause the HTPC to stop working.

But it is definitely over the 69.1 temp, unless HWMonitor isn't working right.

I have the Intel stock cooler.

EDIT: I upgraded the BIOS to F5, but no change in temp readings. Using three temp monitors now and they are reporting similar values. What is the TJ max for the G530? According to RealTemp, it is 102C? I moved it back down to my office and it idles now at 50C, so maybe it is an airflow question, but still, that is very high to me for idle. I also put some Artic Silver paste on the fan when I installed the stock cooler. Would that matter?

All is good now. I had inadvertently disabled the CPU fan. Hooked it back up, and temps are at 40C at idle, and 50C under 60% load.

LOL, thanks for the update. Just goes to show that the stock heatsink is sufficient... when it is plugged in!

And attached properly! I just finished a build with an i3-2100, and I installed the HSF, tugged on it, thought it was on properly... days later I install a temp monitor and see it at 50C at idle! What the hell?

Opened the case, and the HSF nearly fell off when I touched it, lol.

Definitely make sure all 4 pins are pushed all the way through the motherboard

I have a G530 in a Mini ITX case (Lian-Li PC-Q07) with only the PSU exhausting hot hair. Stock cooler on the G530, and I reach 51C playing BF3 100% CPU load. Idles at 41C.

Yeah, it was definitely a headslap DOH moment! I feel better knowing I'm not the only one that has done something like that. But I am pretty sure that in the future, I will always be checking to make sure that cable is all the way plugged in every time I put a case back on
