I have both above chips, the c2 on a bx and the p3 on a via and run a little testcpu program that's a freebie and get the same benchmarks on both machines.
I've been surprised at how good a value the c2 has been. I haven't done memory or video tests as they are different (100vs133 and tnt2 vs V3) but they run UT without being able to tell other than the 14inch monitor on the c2.
I've got to say they are pretty much equal as I'm using them now.

What do you think? Anyone else running similar performance different chips?

They're both very impressive. A Celeron @ 112 MHz and a P3 @ 140 MHz is quite good. You might want to try runnning more sophisticated benchmarks. From other benchmarks I've seen I would think the P3 is really a little faster. Take a look at this:http://www.hexus.com/1ghzc21.shtml

What kind of cooling did you use.

I'm using a gorb on each right now. The c2 reads about 20 to 22c while the p3 reads 29 to 32c. I use the aopen hardware monitor for both readings and I ran the p3 with the retail fan and heatsink origonally and the temps were only 1 or 2 degrees higher.

I can run the p3 higher but not sure what isn't keeping it stable and I have to go to cas 2 on the crucial ram and I have a 64 stick of 133 that I don't think is cas 2. I've been to 144mz and it'll run the testcpu but the cas 2 to 3 change makes a big difference.

the p3 should be faster. the via board is mpt as fast as the bx.
