CDRW/CDR is here to stay. And I think its going to stay for a long long time.

DVD RW will catch on since burners are starting to hit the $150 mark. By next xmas we will be doing deals like this but with DVD RW. The media is the only thing right now holding the wide acceptance of DVD RW. I have started to see media below a $1 and soon we will see it free AR.

If I just did this for Black Friday at STAPLES can I do this again. It was a 40x12x48....and sadly after I opened the CenDyne I found out it was NOT a Lite-On!

Actually it was a 16X DVD Rom and it was on that same rebate form... I'll assume that even though there are many items on that rebate I can only get one....oh well...

Check the model #, if it is LTR, then it is a Lite On.

Not much of a deal when you consider that 48x drives can be had for $20 to $30 AR and if they are
Lite-On's can be firmware upgraded at their website. Besides, the improvment of 52x over 48x is not much. Cendyne, Buslink and others buy OEM drives from whoever. Some you can not tell the mfg from the model # or serial # on box, but they do package them differently based on the proprietary software that the drive uses. Look on the box - if it says Smart-Burn it is most likely a Lite-On, if it says Just-Link or anything else Link it is not a LIte-On. Buy the 48x for $30 to $40 less. GO figure.
