Mizer, went to FW and checked rebate tracking thread. Cendyne rebates are looking very bad, and I think I'm gonna be out $530 in various cendyne/verbatim rebates since cendyne is the parent company of verbatim

A lot, lotta lotta people are gonna be left holding the bag if this should turn out to be the case. Staples and officemax, just to name a couple heavyweights in the retail sector, agressively pushed cendyne products on black friday and the xmas shopping months leading up to it as "so and so after rebate. The people shafted won't just be the avid deal hunters, but also your everyday folk buying xmas gifts for family and friends. A gazillion people would be shafted and if this happens, I will be at my local staples demanding my rebate. These cendyne rebates weren't 100% a manufacturer's rebate that staples or officemax had no parts in, but rather joint promotions. Whenever a rebate is good at XXX store ONLY, it's a joint promotion, not like with say the logitech rebates where you can pretty much buy the items any old place so long as it's a true retail box upc.

So what is the recourse? Bring proof and have Officemax (or Staples) cough up part or all of the rebate?

I just got my shipment today. I uses 30 off 150 coupon when ordering. I was wondering if I return all the phones (I rather get my $10 back than have it held up and keep a generic phone) will they will credit back their full price right? Or will they credit the difference between the full 9.99 price and (the percentage the phone made up of the 30 dollar discount I got).

I think it's in their discretion what to do about a return. If it takes the total below $150 they could void the coupon and subtract that from any refund you get. That, or a store credit (but no cash or credit to your credit card), are the most likely results.

Just a word of warning, watch out for these Cendyne rebates. I picked up a Cendyne CDRW with a $50 rebate, submitted everything and they refused to honor it saying I didn't include the serial number (which I did). I resubmitted it again with that, they still said the rebate was invalid. I fought with them and finally they said they found the serial number and I'd get the check in 30 days. That was 2 months ago. I checked on it again today and found out they just changed it back to an invalid submission (saying no serial #). Cendyne is crooked as they come...

I'm taking the drive back to Staples and getting my money back, but wanted to share my experience before anyone else makes the same mistake. Ugh...
