Most Cendynes are reboxed LiteOns, especially the higher speed drives like this one. Check the serial # on the back of the box and if it's 12 digits, all numeric, you most likely will find a Lite-On drive inside.

There is an extensive discussion of the LiteOn drives in all their many incarnations over at the cdfreaks site.

I've owned a number of LiteOn drives and been very satisfied with all of them.

No, reboxed means that it is a new item, but the manufacturer is not actually Cendyne. The real manufacturer is Lite-On (hopefully) and Cendyne gets their drives from Lite-On. They then sell it in a Cendyne box. Pretty much, Cendyne doesn't actually manufacture drives, they just sell them.
